Mortals are beings that originate from the Mortal Realm, born from natural causes. Nearly all mortals are bound for the ultimate fate of Death, although a few are able to avoid it by disconnecting with the Mortal Realm. This can be done by achieving enlightenment. Yet many mortals strive to avoid death, or accomplish something before it.
