Unknown

Era Zero

YEAR 636

The sun simply stopped rising without explanation. The land and the people churned under this massive change and in its turmoil created a new landscape that wiped out large parts of the world and created impassable terrain as the temperatures plummeted.

Era One

YEAR 765

Civilization thinned to almost non-existence due to the immediate changes. War had ripped thru the many civilizations of the world as resources quickly dwindled and many exploited the opportunity devolving into monsters themselves over finding external threats. Small societies , remnants of the war-torn, survived started to reclaim the forgotten cities using them as defensive bases and the access to the world beneath them to keep retain heat and shifted arcane research towards engineering solutions for civilization to have a chance to thrive. It was noted that many creatures of old have disappeared. Though some legend and lore exists races like Orc, Goblin, Kobold and many others have disappeared as if swept from the board of life entirely.

Era Two

YEAR 901

Minor growth continues despite the centuries of setback at this point. More powerful spell-casters, such as Druids and Wizards, have become default leaders in a majority their communities. Sun Cairns are developed during this era and the first fields are sowed near Drekken. This quickly lead to new wars and even smaller alliances until the research of the cairns were "acquired", some say, in careful whisper, it was actually given away by the Druids and has lead to cause some fracturing among geopolitical powers of the time that seem to still ache with unresolved issues among those that still recall.

Era Three

YEAR 1134

Large shits of population via major changes in the racial makeup of the world population with humans largely reduced to a significantly smaller portion while mixed and half races taking on a much larger role given inherent racial powers for better handling of the constant darkness and eternal cold. Sun Cairns are common throughout the Cold Hell, the continent renamed by the new lore. Rediscovery and Exploration of the cities are underway. Academic missions to explore further and find out more about what happened and potentially methods to reverse The Black Sun. However, few think in these long term futures, instead continuing to focus on survival though many new normal comforts such as mushroom farms, hot pipes, and even small batch manufacturing for alcohols are more common. The monsters have started to return, some in strange ways.
