Alke - Summary of the Games (63-67)

Journal

The Games are almost over and I could not be more glad. Somehow the sheer amount of vanity, boisterous energy, overwhelming self-confidence and raucous celebration cannot be as worse as whatever awaits us in recovering the Ultros. And it’s not just the fact that races or fights are not my strong suit - though my misplaced confidence in the boxing is something I am sure I will be cringing about for a long time to come. We won the relay today, Yet, I still feel the same about all this. Detached, like it’s not happening to me. A bit like when I was back at the temple as a child seeing everyone passionately train for the games, but never wanting to or feeling part of everything. Back then I thought myself above these things, a little princess stuck in that dreary place.

Corinna won the archery. She looked utterly jubilant. Such a well deserved prize. And then, against the odds (and Braz and Hipofillius’ interesting tactics) she also came first in the road race. I could not be more glad for her! Maybe she’ll realise that it’s her enthusiasm and dedication that will make this world a better place. Not heroes…

Calliope also shone, her talent in Herald and Trumpet was unbeatable. And whatever doubt she had about her abilities on the battlefield, her arrows struck true in the Archery making her the winner of the modern games.

The rest of the games is a bit of a blur, lots of roaring crowds, lots of celebrations. But I managed to get away and work on the scarf and then enjoy Loreas’ excited stories from the day.
