Balgus is King Hrothgar's most loyal retainer, and is permanently assigned as the bodyguard to the king's heir. He has been the king's stalwart companion and confidant since they were both youths, and has followed him on all of his adventures and campaigns. He has a mutual relationship of trust with Wealtheow, the king's wife.
Balgus holds lands to the east of Kenburgh. This is where his household resides.
Balgus' brother is a housecarl and Runemaker for Jarl Thorfinn (location 4 on the map).
Balgus was a suitor to Jarl Hillis' now-wife, Alda; she is still fond of him, while Hillis has not entirely forgotten their old rivalry (location A).
Balgus helped secure Jarl Brynhild's throne against pretenders (location D).
