When you cast a spell that forces other creatures to make a saving throw, you can protect some of those creatures from that spell entirely. To do so, you spend 1 sorcery point and choose a number of those creatures up to your proficiency bonus. A chosen creature automatically succeed on their saving throws against the spell, and they take no damage if they would normally take half damage on a successful save, for that casting.
