Governed by the Sheriff of their assigned borough, there are still occasional issues of jurisdiction. The loose hierarchy arranged to settle these matters is as follows; a Sheriff visiting another borough on official business is considered jointly responsible for the men stationed there and is expected to meet with the local Sheriff before tending to any other duties. Rangers visiting another territory than that in which they are stationed are expected to answer to the Sheriff of said territory, unless their own Sheriff is present alongside them. And finally, the men of Nidaros are given authority wherever they are deployed.
Although he does not often travel, in times of war the Sheriff of Adamancia may lead from the front, and to ensure his orders are considered as though issued by the King himself, he is considered to outrank all other Sheriffs in the kingdom.
