Oceanyka, still sometimes known post-independence as Australia, is a confederation of tribes, villages, towns and city-states located in the continent of Oceania. It is an anarchic land filled with treasure, danger, cruelty and death. Outside of the palisades of villages, the stone walls of towns, the sniper towers of cities and the bunkers of colonial outposts anarchy reigns, and he with the biggest gun wins. Oceanyka autonomously developed two different civilisations which had been at war with each other for millennia before the arrival of foreign settlers; the Aboriginals and the Ferozen. In their last great war, they destroyed each other, leaving the continent ripe for British colonisation. This state of affairs lasted for almost a century, greatly enriching the Empire, but Oceanyka reached independence through bloody revolution in the late 19th century, as a confederation between all peoples within it. Originally aligned with the West, a left-wing revolution in the capital has brought it closer to the Moscow Pact, under the leadership of President Alan Redfort.

In 1964, Alan Redfort issued direct orders to the Armed Forces of the Oceanykan Federation; none other than to retake New Caledonia at any cost. It was the loss of this territory in the New Caledonian War, integrally Oceanykan in nature, which had partially led to the collapse of the prior political establishment, and a continued shame upon the new state's existence. On the morning of September 14, coinciding with Bastille Day, two divisions from the OPA Marine Corps (the 13th Mech. Marine Division “Anzacs” and the 14th Marine Division “Tropic Thunder”) constituted in six brigades landed across New Caledonia while squadrons from the R.N. 1st Battlefleet "Black-Flag" provided maritime security. French forces, largely on leave, were disarmed with less than 100 deaths across the archipelago.

This event set off yet another political crisis in France, as parliament refused to accept de Gaulle's planned declaration of war. Nevertheless, the French Navy and a large contingent of troops sailed off. De Gaulle threatened that these warships were armed with nuclear weapons, which would be used against Oceanykan forces if they did not leave New Caledonia. In response, Soviet bombers were placed in full alert, knowing full well that Cestlep would retaliate with its own nuclear arsenal.

On August, the United Nations discussed these events and France, under pressure from both the Soviets and Americans, relinquished its claims to New Caledonia. In exchange, the Oceanykan Federation signed guarantees which protected the property and individual rights of French citizens in New Caledonia, overseen by the UN itself.

The Ordnance QF 2-pounder was Britain's standard 40mm anti-tank weapon at the beginning of WW2. Though most of them were lost in the Dunkirk evacuation, when the Allied Nations and the Reichspakt consolidated into the United Nations (commonly still known as the Allied Powers) to counter the Soviet-Japanese Continental Axis, they were all returned to the British Army. The QF 2pdr became obsolete mid-war against the latest Soviet designs, but it was still capable against Japan's light and amphibious tank force in the Pacific and mainland Asia. It was also the standard anti-tank gun of the Federal Army and the main gun on its Cruiser Tank.

The Republic of Sydney's greatest weapon is in its Bank of New South Wales. Established in 1817, it remains the oldest European-style bank in the continent. The BNSW operates throughout the entire continent, providing capital to whomever it finds convenient, and financial security to anyone who can pay. Its profits are partially used to fund Sydney's armed forces.

The Late Middle Ages are largely considered to be one of Oceanyka's most economically prosperous periods, as the continent reached a technological and social parity with much of its neighbours, even surpassing them in certain fields.

  • As guilds and seafaring began to develop, Oceanykan merchants became more active in the global economy, displacing many European and Asian trade societies which had made unimaginable profits off importing and exporting goods from Oceanyka. Many of these profits were reinvested into the national economy, creating jobs and physical wealth in the form of infrastructure, developed estates and private ventures.

  • Oceanykan luxury goods such as Southern velvet saw an enormous increase in demand, primarily in Europe, but also in Asia and the Middle East. Consequently, its continental production consistently grew, creating the basis for a healthy luxury goods economy. Many products from abroad such as fine China, Indian cloth and European colonial products (sugar, tobacco, silver, etc.)

  • As the power of traditional Asian powers fell, European colonial powers replaced them as Oceanyka's primary trade partners, military suppliers and maritime rivals. However, it is undeniable that the rise of Europe in this time period was meteoric, so this relationship became increasingly unequal as the decades passed. However, Europe's preoccupation with its own grant continental wars served to prevent Oceanykan polities from falling to colonialism, though history would prove that this was borrowed time.

One can easily tell that towards the end of this time period it was Europe who posed the greatest existential threat to Oceanykan sovereignty, a threat which materialised in the Dutch Invasion of Australia. Following this conflict, Oceanyka began its slow descent into madness as, slowly but surely, once-prosperous states turned their efforts towards the establishment of a total war economy, definitive characteristic of the Economy of Revolutionary Age Oceanyka.

The Fusile Vetterli-Vitali Modello 1870/87 is an Italian bolt-action rifle. Developed in the 1870s as a modification of the earlier Vetterli rifle, it was updated with Vitali's innovative magazine system, allowing for the use of metallic cartridges and increasing the rifle's rate of fire. Its adoption by the Italian Army marked a significant departure from earlier single-shot rifles, enhancing infantry firepower and battlefield effectiveness. Despite its technological advancements, the Vetterli-Vitali rifle faced obsolescence with the emergence of more advanced rifles such as the Fucile Modello 1891 Carcano, though many were later rechambered to 6.5x52mm Carcano and used in both World Wars.

The megalania is a very large reptilian predator which lives around Oceanyka's riverlands and wetlands. It is up to 6m long and up to one and a half metres tall. Its bite can reportedly break through steel, is venomous, and the creature's hide is practically immune to some low calibre ammunition. The megalania poses a real threat to human settlement of the continent, and specialised search parties are sometimes formed to exterminate its lairs.
