General Description: A distant relative to the Greenskin known through whispers to those outside of the Western Isles, the Oni is a tall, athletically built being with an Elf-like face, often with one or two protruding fangs from the lower lip, skin which is one of any number of variants of shades of red, dense black or white hair (the males often also have beards of the same colour), and a pair of long bone horns protruding to their foreheads.

Culture: Oni are far more civilised than their bandit cousins in the Central Plains, but are still very focused on combat ability. However, despite combat being their primary lifestyle focus, unlike the Greenskins the Oni are also focused to the point of obsession with honour, though their ideas of honour can vary wildly to the Imperial view of the term. These warlike creatures are not necessarily evil but instead live by a strict code. These tenets stress sincerity, frugality, loyalty, mastery of martial arts, and above all else respect for one's enemy and honour to the death. Many Oni who break those tenets will choose ritual suicide (seppuku in Oni) over going home in disgrace. The Oni are very ambitious of honours and distinctions, and think themselves superior to all nations in military glory and valour. They prize and honour all that has to do with war, and all such things, and there is nothing of which they are so proud as of weapons adorned with gold and silver. They always wear their weapons both in and out of the house, and when they go to sleep they hang them at the bed's head. They spend their means on arms, armour and bodily adornments, and do not in the least care to save money. Nevertheless, family and lineage is also of extreme importance to them, with the gender of a child meaning little to them; every child old enough to walk on their own is allowed to choose a weapon and learn to use it, so that nearly every adult in an Oni population will be fully capable of fighting at an elite level.
There are six Oni nations: Akaimizu, Akumashima, Onoheiwa, Senshi-no-Kuni, Shitokage and Taiyodao. None of them are on particularly good terms with each other, and indeed Akaimizu and Shitokage have been in an off-and-on war for some thirty years. Akumashima also has a tendency to raid their neighbour Kumonosu's outer islands.

Love of Alcohol: However, like all living things, the Oni have their vices. They have a distinct love of alcoholic beverages, particularly the sake rice-wine created in their homelands. Most Oni will carry a large gourd or flask containing some form of alcoholic drink on their person, and woe betide anyone who attempts to steal it from them.

Differing Style: Oni weapons are strikingly different to those of other cultures, having been developed without any external influence from The Old World, and include such weapons as the katana, kanabo, shikomizue and tanto to name just a few. They however did concurrently invent the longbow at around the same time as other parts of Orth, in a prime example of simultaneous invention. Their armour is also of a distinct style, meant just as much for terrifying enemies as it is for protection.

Isolationism: While not xenophobic, Oni have a distinct distrust of foreigners and concepts that seem alien to them. Also due to their social construct they have a distinct dislike of capitalism or any policy that focuses on wealth and power rather than honour and loyalty to their people.

Origins: Oni are the eventual result of a common ancestor of the Greenskins intermingling with a small Devil population on the archipelago. While the Daemonic blood is now heavily diluted the influence is still clearly there in their red skin and prominent horns.
