ADVENTURERS

The adventurers opted to head down to the level beneath their fort to try and explore the last nooks and crannies. After diffusing an ambush by the prisoners they’d set loose down there (handful of coins flung into their midst), the party by dangling Alfredward down it that the well in the courtyard led to a secret door behind one of the statues.

They then proceeded to prostrate themselves before each of the statues of old Redwood nobles. Alfredward rolled out of the way just in time to avoid one collapsing on top of him, and Lutheric found himself at death’s door after another gave him a faceful of toxic gas.

Finally Alfredward found the right one, the floor beneath him tipping away to roll the dwarf into a series of crypts. Above one of them flickered an unnaturally blue flame, and the ghostly figure of Felinor Redwood appeared, he of the talking portrait fame at the top of the fort. He spoke of being trapped in undeath by his younger brother many centuries ago, and bitterly welcomed the adventurers to pillage the graves of his siblings. Just so long as the party returned with some way of releasing him. Newly armed with a forthright, pompous sentient sword, the adventurers agreed and headed back up, pondering the implications for their relationship with the current Baron Redwood.
