While various "Elemental" worlds and planets can be found scattered through space, they become more and more prevalent near the center of the cosmos. Eventually they become thick enough that the barriers between worlds begin to break down and it becomes one big area of adjoining realms known as the Inner Planes.
Some of the more famous locales in the Inner Planes are near the center where travel becomes relatively easier, such as the Sea of Fire and the City of Brass.
