An ancient Elven sub-species. After the Schism that split the Aldmer, the Ayleid made their home in what, in modern times, is called Cyrodiil. They enslaved the Khajiit, Argonians, Lilmothit, and Nedic peoples across all of Cyrodiil. It is also said that the Ayleid manufactured the Knahaten Flu, which drove the Lilmothit to extinction, in order to punish the slave races for their rebellions. While their ruins still dot the landscape, the Ayleid race of Elves has been exterminated as well.
Once Daedra worshippers, the majority of their military might came from Daedric creatures being allowed free transport into Nirn. However, the Slave Rebellion, led by the Nedic woman Al-Esh Paravant, and her bond with Akatosh, led to the dissolution of the Ayleid's slavery over many people. With the loss of their connection with the Daedra the Ayleid lost their military might, eventually leading to the following centuries where Ayleid lords made efforts to punish the slave races and take back their power and influence. This ultimately failed and roughly 300 years after the fall of the Ayleid Empire, the last of the Ayleid Elves died off.
