Locations

A catfolk from the village of Sunnyside, Meimquith helped Brekkan, Osru, and Garreth stop an incursion of vines that threatened the forest around his hometown. He would later move to the northern cities to further his worship of the Radiance.

Black Beach is one of two ports under the control of the Republic of Jagriarius, the other being Winterpost.

Black Beach is a small port currently under the control of the Republic of Jagriarius.
Due to its position, it is an important military base, although limited in size. Entire city is built in a modern, for the world, technology:

Wooden houses stand atop solid, stone foundations, and their walls are covered in alloy plates that provide structural integrity and evoke victorian era steampunk aesthetic. Within the city itself most Bugbears are seen wearing military uniforms, with only a few of them looking like civilians. There is unrest in the city, and the military seems to have taken over the lives of the locals completely. With strict police hours in place, just walking around at night will have you interrogated right in the streets in the best of times, and thrown into prison at worst.

Local shops are open, but they look desolate, with little clients going in. Police is brutal, but it does protect them from the struggles of war in the Iron Front.

Eastern Gate

Connected almost directly to the fishing village just outside the walls of the city, this gate is most closely observed as it is the way most used for transporting fish to the city marketplace and fishery from local fishermen.
The gate faces the sea and stands almost at the edge of the water. Paved road that was built along the defensive walls, leading to gates equipped with heavy steel portcullis.

Local fishermen that live outside the city perimeter are more free than those who live within it, but the defense that military personnel provides ends where city walls stand.

Western Gate

Western gates show only a few houses that hug the walls of the city. They are all made crudely, some seem to be rotting through. Its occupants don't seem to mind though. There are Bugbear kids running around, an old woman is sitting at a heavily smoking fire making flatbread on a piece of metal sheet that looks like it was stripped from the wall. There is something unsettling about this area, and it is not just the sickening stench of slums that hit your nostrils.
It is the silence.
Nobody exchanges even a single word, communicating with weak gestures, not even kids are shouting. It is a place where those that cannot afford to live inside the city reside, those who have been hit the hardest by the war, possibly refugees from other cities closer to the Pact's territories.

The gates are guarded by four guards. Two are just outside, stationed at the sides of the entrance, checking everyone who wishes to enter the city from this side. The other two are stationed just inside, in a guard's post inside of which there is a lever operating the portcullis. Once pulled, the gates will shut, leaving everyone outside to fend for themselves.

Northern Gate

Northern gate is the one most heavily guarded, as it is the side where a direct attack from the Pact would come from. The walls here are almost twice as thick, and the guards posted are tripled compared to other gates. But it is also the gate where guards are more lenient with the visitors from outside, as it would be the post where noone is instructed to check the business with which tourists would come to Black Beach. Guards here are mostly rookies, cannon fodder of the city's military force.

Black Beach Military

Almost completely closing the city off from the sea, Military Port is located within the barracks and along the pier, with numerous ships of various sizes. Some seem to be custom built war machines, but vast majority appears to be sailing civilian vessels appropriated for military use.
Access to the pier is limited, with only the personnel and chosen few gaining access.
The barracks are also the place where recruits would be trained and stationed when not out patrolling and policing the city.

Worker's District

Densely populated in wood-and-stone buildings made with cheaper materials, it is the central point of the life in the city. Houses are largely populated by civilians that are encouraged to stay inside during the day, and allowed outside at night conditionally (see Town Square). Nonetheless, even through the struggle of war, life continues, and while few people walk the streets for recreational purposes, they are not empty.
Patrols can be seen sparingly during the day, as it is a district not as closely guarded as the Upper Class, but this changes during the night when you see a pair of guards at almost every corner.

Fishery and Marketplace

A place where locals make their purchases of fish, meats, fruits and vegetables and other general goods. It is also the place where fishermen from outside the walls would come with their excess catch, if any, to sell the goods to the citizens. A subtle indication that it is not a fair trade is that while a civilian might pay 5 copper pieces for a fish, that same fish would be sold to anyone with official uniform for 1 copper piece, sometimes given for free.
