A topsy-turvy week

Session 74
2022-05-19

As Nicodemus is not present in the morning when Sirona feels better, she asks if anyone could fetch him and the key to evaluate her and let her out. Irdien and L go to find him, but Nicodemus is busy and says he'll come after classes are done. Irdien gets annoyed and asks for the key and for him to let Rose do the evaluation.
After some consideration, Nicodemus agrees to this, and the girls return with the key. Rose doesn't do much of a check-up; he simply states that she's fine and asks Irdien how to say addicted in the common language. Thinking Sirona might be embarrassed, Irdien tries to answer covertly, but Rose almost screams the word. Sirona can't care less what anyone thinks or calls her as she just wants a bath, a meal and some more good old-fashioned rest. She will effectively spend the rest of this new week in the dorm recovering.
Feeling inspired by the Aasimar's brush with death, Rose decides to take his own risk and steal from the school. He wants to try and get his hand on a valuable book. Since the A-student knows all the books in the library by heart, he decides that he wants to try and steal something harder to get. Casting invisibility on themselves, he manages to sneak into Nicodemuses' quarters just as the professor leaves for a class and finds a notebook with Nicodemus' private notations. The book seems to be about his observations of faculty members and students. Taking the notebook with him, Rose leaves but quickly acquires thieving remorse and goes into hiding at a secret location.
As days pass, the group notices that Rose is missing and Adrian, feeling responsible for the young kid, tries to find him. But, unfortunately, it's like the boy has vanished into thin air. Then, one day, while Adrian holds a fascinating lesson on ambush tactics, proving that he has an excellent knack for teaching, Nicodemus finds Irdrien. The professor asks for her help as he has noticed that a book has gone missing and thinks she might be able to get it back for him. Irdien accepts after some convincing and investigates the crime scene. Ultimately, she decides that it has to be an inside job and that the culprit must have been invisible while it happened. Taking this information back to share with the group, Adrian puts two and two together and concludes that Rose must have taken it. Sirona suggests they simply ask Pearl for aid as Adrian has already searched the whole school for the boy and could use her help. However, Adrian says he won't speak with Pearl. Irdien says that she can go, but when Sirona asks if she can come along, Irdien tells her no, saying she wants to do this alone. Leaving the still recovering cleric to be entertained by L, the two investigators head back out.
Irdien visits Pearl asking if she can help. Pearl casts a scrying spell that leads them to Rose's hiding spot. The student has been inside the magically inaccessible storage department, brushing up on his common by reading course literature after finishing Nicodemus's book, which he does not have on him. Irdien asks him to take her to the book, and after some crying, snivelling and grovelling, the boy takes her to the library, where he's hidden the book in plain sight. Irdien gets the book to Nicodemus, saying she found it but leaves out the part about it being Rose that stole it.
Meanwhile, Arcus picks up Rose's scent and leads Adrian to the library. Adrian is rightfully upset and gives Rose a stern talking two. not being comfortable with the enraged journeyman, Rose casts a teleportation spell that puts Adrian outside the library. The journeyman shakes his head and declares that he won't mentor Rose anymore. Instead, he leaves for Tarkett to pick up a tarantula as a present for Irdiens upcoming birthday.
While Rose sits in the library thinking over what he's done and how nice it is that his friend Irdien didn't sell him out, a fellow student says that the Grand master has requested him. Rose nods and goes to the Grand master's office.
Vacek Polyakov receives him asking if everything is alright, seeing as he's been absent from class for days and unable to get into contact with him. Rose says that he no longer wants to be a Monster Hunter and does not wish to graduate next week. The Grand master says it will be a significant loss for the guild to lose him and asks Rose to think about it as graduation is only a short while away.
