Kadar was born on a small farm just outside Caballus as the oldest of two children, Kadar and Jagrafar Rachid. His childhood was of meagre means but was happy, but as he grew he grew tired of the farm life and decided to move to the city in his late teens.

He found himself in Ādīsi Geneti, where his skill at deception as a con artist quickly caught the attention of the Thieves' Guild. Unfortunately he also found himself getting rung into working for drug lord Hayk-ebasa-ged'wen. However, his time in Adisi wasn't entirely bad as it was during his time here that he met the woman who would become his wife. They had two children together, Garrettar Rachid and Ryesheba Rachid.

He worked for Hayk for many years, becoming increasingly jaded and disillusioned about his organisation, until Hayk being given several Catfolk children to pay off a drug debt was the straw that broke the camel's back. Finding himself working with second-eldest child Magri as a legbreaker, the two quickly became friends and hatched a plan to save his siblings. Sadly, several of them had died by this point, so only the youngest (Ash) and the eldest (Nenet) were left besides Magri himself.

They were only able to save Nenet before Hayk found out. Magri took the fall for it while Kadar hid Nenet on his family farm, a decision that would end in tragedy as eventually Hayk's goons found the farm and this led to a fight which left Kadar's wife dead and Nenet permanently blind from acid to the face.

Angry and upset, he left his children at his brother's farm and took Nenet to Síocháin, where she would be safe, before himself arriving in the woods outside T'Kashire, where he would be reunited with Ash, who didn't recognise him as she had been too young, and met Qau-dibab-āy'ḥāk-āy'āda and Syx. He quickly integrated himself into their team, helping them in their second encounter with Bartimeus Quinnlee and travelling with them to Balla to take part in Duke Erwen's Tournament alongside other missions. He also became Ash's mentor during this time, helping her develop into a better, more mature person, and gelled well with his teammates though he did often butt heads with Qau due to their very different personalities.

Kadar died during the Battle of T'Kashire, killing the Commander of the undead army to prevent him from attacking an injured Ash. He was cremated and his ashes were split into five parts - most of them were interred in Caballus with his wife's, a portion in T'Kashire churchyard, and the others being three small pinches worn in necklaces by Ash and his two children. Most of his personal belongings, including his journals, his will and his sword, are currently in the care of Ash, who he also went out of his way to set things right with via writing.
