Recent History
The largest Red Dragon to ever emerge was a mutant with nearly black scales known as the Black Dragon. It was slain by Viore Drakenfiend in the year 3A 54.

General Description
The largest, most famous and presumably most common of the known species of True Dragons, Red Dragons have scales that gradient from pale yellow on their belly and underside to a deep crimson elsewhere, and green eyes. The males have four long horns on the backs of their heads that curve upwards so the tips point straight up; the females have no horns at all.

Behaviour
Red Dragons are, first and foremost, greedy, even more so than other True Dragons. Avaricious to an absolute fault, despite their intelligence Red Dragons will often act irrationally and even self-destructively if precious metals or jewels are involved. With breath like a volcanic blast, woe betide anyone who attempts to steal from a Red Dragon’s hoard.

Habitat
Red Dragons usually live solitary lives in caves in mountainous areas.

Mutations
The Metallic mutation Red Dragons are a dark brass colour on the underside fading to a shining bright gold elsewhere. The mutation that created the Black Dragon is unknown.
