Recent History
The two different societies of Lizardfolk are currently rather at odds with each other. While the Chameleons in Bēti are intent on keeping good ties with the rest of the world, those in the UPP are still embroiled in the cold war with the Troll Empire which has lasted for a little over two centuries at this point.

General Description
The Lizardfolk are precisely what their name suggests - a race of bipedal reptiles, complete with tails, scales and lizard-like heads. There is not a great deal to tell apart the sexes with; being reptiles, their physical dimorphism isn't particularly noticeable without intimate interaction and thus females and males look much the same externally. However, females are slightly smaller with less muscle mass and a more lithe figure with slightly wider hips in proportion. Yellow eyes are the norm.

Natural Armour
The scales of a Lizardfolk are very strong and act as natural armour, meaning that most Lizardfolk soldiers have no need for armour as their scales already provide a great deal of protection.

Culture
While culture between the UPP and Bēti differs vastly, there are multiple unifying cultural points that all Lizardfolk share. One of the most prominent is that as a race they have almost no concept of a centralised family, with a communal mindset that leaves the raising of children left to specialised teachers called “Guides” rather than the parents, who the children rarely know the identity of, and their only real family usually being the rest of their brood-mates. As a result, many Lizardfolk living in amongst other societies will often find their concepts of lineage and the like rather alien. Love and marriage, however, are concepts that exist for them, something that many outside observers find rather difficult to grasp. Contrary to popular belief, not all Lizardfolk eat the flesh of other sapient beings, only those who are part of the Poolish Cult.

Cold-Blooded
Being reptiles, Lizardfolk are cold-blooded and require warmth to function properly. As such, they are incredibly susceptible to cold, as it slows down their bodily functions and can even kill them in large exposure.

Scarring
Many Lizardfolk will often have greyish patches of fused scales, as scarring causes their scales to not regrow properly.

Slow Metabolism
Poolish Lizardfolk, due to their desert habitat, have a considerably slower metabolism to compensate for the lack of food and can live with only eating a few times a month. This means that eating too much can cause them to become sluggish. Bētin Chameleons, living in a location with plentiful food, do not have as much of a slow metabolism.
