A new village which borders the wood-elf forest of Shilmista to the East, grasslands to the West, and trackless plains to the North.

Lylenaes is an Elven town in name only. Everything seems newly built, and not always in the best manner. The first stop for most travelers is Kerowyn's Inn and General Shop.

The year of wild magic (1372) signaled decades of increasingly bizarre events. Wild Magic Zones (WMZs) began increasing in size until most habitable lands were fully covered. The realm became a dangerous place for adventurers and common folk alike, leading to the death of many iconic figures.

Wild magic expansion came to a head in 1380 as WMZs began to shrink and burn out. This was unexpectedly accompanied by a weakening of the Weave itself. Magic across the realm is now harder to master and more difficult to handle. Wards, illusions, and enchantments which stood for countless centuries began to fail. Only the most powerful and complex items were able to resist this strange nullification of power. Even then, weakening of the Weave has left these items as shadows of their former selves. The resulting rarity of magic, coupled with discovery of new ruins and exposed tombs, has created a large economic incentive for adventurers.

The Spellplague disaster struck on 29th Tarsakh, the Year of Blue Fire, 1385 DR, and was caused by Midnight's assassination at the hands of Cyric and Shar. With the goddess's death, the Weave, the universal structure of arcane forces, convulsed. It continued for a decade, leading to the Wailing Years, during which arcane magic ceased to function and the planet of Toril was transformed.

The storm of blue fire began over the Mhair Jungles west of Halruaa and quickly grew to a large size, with blue flames visible in the sky. It laid waste to Halruaa due to the heavy wild magic activity in the area, and Sespech, the Golden Plains and the Nagalands were transformed into an unpredictable and surreal place, dubbed the Plaguewrought Lands. Almost every part of Faerûn was affected by the Spellplague and certain areas were eliminated entirely, while others were created anew. Thousands of mages were either destroyed or went insane due to the collapse of the Weave after Mystra's death. In Cormyr, a third of the War Wizards were either killed or driven mad. Those who survived were forced to learn martial combat as a result of the disappearance of arcane magic.

The Anauroch desert has continued its expansion during the last 100 years and now covers a significant portion of the Western Heartlands. Nomads now roam what is jokingly referred to as the Empire of Infernal Sands. Cormyr has been turned into a dry wasteland while coastal cities cling to the last remnants of glory in this once-powerful empire.

Thay underwent a collapse of government after a wild magic surge turned all humans in Eltabbar into ancient oak trees. The city is slowly crumbling to dust as the region continues a transformation into old-growth forest. Power vacuums in the area are still being filled to this day.

By 1395 DR, the majority of the effects of the Spellplague had come to an end and most arcane magic had returned to normal. In 1479 DR the Spellplague was ended with the event known as Mystra's Return. The Weave was resurrected with the goddess and magic became what it was before the Spellplague, though some areas with lingering effects from it remain.

Events of the last 100 years have resulted in the death or disappearance of all fourth-tier NPCs (>17th level) in the realm. Keep in mind that arcane spellcasting was unavailable for over 80 years. None of the short-lived races now have wizards or sorcerers with more than a handful of experience.
