Appearance
Dragonborn are humanoids of draconic ancestry, resembling the scaled creatures who created them. Most adult dragonborn stand at around 6'2''-6'8''(1.9-2m) and weigh 220-320 pounds(100-150kg). Their hands have four fingers, each equipped with claws, where one acts as an opposable thumb. Their feet end in three large claws and they seldom walk on the heel of their foot naturally, unless needed to stay up.
The head of dragonborn feature a snout, which was either blunt if you hailed from the north, or sharp if you hail from the south. The head also features a strong brow arching from the snout into horns on the back their heads, and reptilian frills on the cheeks and ears. Starting from the back of the head, reaching down to the shoulders or middle of the back, grew hornlike scales forming what could easily resemble dreadlocks or ropy hair. A dragonborn's eye color will mostly depend on their ancestry, white dragonborn will most likely have white, blue, or grey eyes, while a red might have yellow, orange, or yellow eyes.
Growth
Young dragonborn, who hatched from eggs like their draconic relatives, grew at an impressively rapid rate, much faster than most other races, reaching the equivalent maturity of a human child of 10 by age 3. Dragonborn parents chewed their hatchlings food for about 4-5 months before teeth began to come in. A dragonborn would then slowly introduce soft food and then move towards normal dragonborn eating habits, which contained more meat than was typical of most other ancestries. Their rate of maturation slowed dramatically within a few short years and they were not considered physically mature until the age 16-19, when their bodies reached their adult height and appearance. Around this time is also when a dragonborn will develop their breath weapon. dragonborn usually have a lifespan of around 70-80 years.
Abilities
Dragonborn have a number of abilities that set them apart from other humanoids. Dragonborn are often hardy and charismatic as a people, which is unusual as a inherited trait, but is believed to be inherited from their draconic relatives. Dragonborn are also quite durable and when injured. Most notable of all was a dragonborn's breath weapon, which, like that of a dragon, varied in nature, depending on a dragonborn's draconic heritage.
Traditions
Dragonborn do not carry traditions as a species, and due to how widespread they are often adapt and partake of whatever culture they find themselves in. However, they do carry the tradition of storytelling, and use it to remind new generations of what the dragons once did to them. Seldom are the stories meant to speak ill of dragons in general, but to be weary of people who rule without empathy and compassion for their followers.
History
It is understood by scholars that dragonborn were initially created by the dragon lords reigning during the Age of The Trees, where they were expected, or rather, demanded to serve as minions and servants to their creators. This continued for about 200 years before the metallic dragons fell to the pleas of their creations, and set on releasing them from their servitude. When they proposed this at a summoning of all the dragon lords, they were called cowards and weak. The chromatic dragons weighed their own interest over the wellbeing of others, and the largest war yet to happen was started when Aaeator lept for Ooveyand's neck and sunk his teeth down.
The Draconic wars were a turning point for dragonborn. And after a close victory by the metallic dragons, dragonborn were finally set free. Already far behind in settling the great planes of Ylvestra, some formed clans among themselves to ease their living situations. Others slowly started joining societies, though not always with a warm welcome. Over years of adapting, learning conduct, and studying others, they finally managed to join in some capacity. In modern times they are commonplace in most populated parts of Ylvestra.
