Description

The only cactus plant native to the Ironlands, found in the drier parts of the eastern Hinterlands and northeast Havens. Firmly rooted, with slightly flexible spines on chains of ovoid body structures.

Interactions

The pulp is especially useful for managing Falsewater toxicity.

Dangers

Being pricked by as few as two spines causes severe itching that can last for many days.

Medicinal Uses

The springtime blooms can be harvested and applied directly to ease pins-and-needles sensations. While long-term treatment is necessary for serious cases, this can also be used to swiftly revive a sleeping limb.

Culinary Uses

Some parts of the plant’s flesh are edible. Fermented sections are a pungent but locally popular dish.

Practical Uses

The pulp is a very good source of water that is not known to cause adverse symptoms even if large amounts are consumed.

Duncan is the de facto mayor of Mossgrove, but doesn't consider himself well-suited to the role. Better him than someone who doesn't know the land, though. Lucya is his pride and joy, but he does wish she would settle down someplace safe rather than go adventuring off across the country where the monsters and raiders can get her. Beautiful bass voice, but it's been a long time since anyone's heard him sing.

The largest of Highwatch's semi-clandestine labor camps, a prolific iron mine located dangerously close to the coast. Its mine commander is a Highwatch officer named Valdo. Hanne calls this place home, such as it is.
