Hakuto comes from Tiedo Kera'Jat, an underground tribe of Anadi that specializes in exploration (altough recently it's been more like guided tours). Their home can be found in the deep parts of the mountains, with caves and grottos leading from various surface entrances to lost temples where ancient lore was discovered and recovered. There are various families in the tribe, usually consisting of Anadi of the same heritage, but the entire thing creates one big web of a family. Altough this tribe is known for gathering knowledge, their primal nature is still strong, granting most tribesmen ability to speak Skittertalk, a primal tonque of the spiders.

Hakuto was one of the guides, but coming from a family of polychromatic Anadi they were expected, and succesfully taught, to perform, specifically with their staff which they incorporate into current fighting style.

With a knack for collecting information, hakuto felt limited in the Old World, where there was little to collect.

There is an old tale in the tribe, one that was passed through oral traditions among the Tiedo. They would speak of a story of an expedition that would venture deep into the mountain, one that could never come back home, and that Tiedo were descendants of those explorers, though they are so old they are no more than children stories now. Is this New World perhaps one that they speak of, is it just a story, or is it perhaps yet another world?

Hakuto was always curious about it, wondering about that old tale, if there's more to it. With the news of the New World, that curiosity grew stronger.

In search of both future and past, they chose to travel through the portal, with a promise to Nethys that they will do their best to learn what they can, in exchange for a blessing of divine magic.

Quest #1 - Exotic Imports

Exotic Imports

On this quest, Hakuto found themself doubting their devotion. Knocked out multiple times and failing to properly protect their allies, Hakuto felt the need to find a way to provide more protection, and had taken up Herbalism.
However, this seemed to not go well with Nethys, who took away most of their magical healing, and instead replaced it with the power to kill.

Quest #2 - Sweet Child o' Mine

Sweet Child O' Mine

During this quest, for the first time their ancestry had become relevant, and their distrust made them not inform others properly of their abilities, which turned a nest of spiders against them, forcing them to defend themself.
After that, they had become numb to death of those that are not their direct allies. It also caused some disconnect from their primal nature their tribe is known for, leading to them eventually travelling back home to relearn Anadi teachings of crafting and survival, forgetting the last of Skittertalk in the process.
Some regret leaning away from that nature caused still lingers, and will likely remain deep within, possibly causing Hakuto to lean further and further away from their nature.

Quest #3 - Parting is Such a Sweet Sorrow

Parting is Such Sweet Sorrow

Some catharsis had come to Hakuto, as their anger towards Nethys peaked, and their anger was let out in a tyrade. And yet, Nethys' presence and magic remained, which made Hakuto feel a little more confident in their own choices.

Quest #4 - Naming a River

Naming a River!

It was the first instance where the item that they found on the Drider had come up. Breaking of the curse that befell spirits in the gallery in the Silent Forest was an unexpected result, but had given some insight on the nature of the item, and Hakuto feels determined to discover it.

Quest #5 - From the Sands

From the Sands

Yet another place that was somehow connected to the Drider. It's weird that I happen to stumble upon two of them in such a quick succession. Neithan said that Silent Forest was once home to a failed Lich, and now Screaming King is also one.
Can those figurines be connected to lichdom?
Besides notes I collected from the walls of the temple after defeating Screaming King, I took his crown as well. Not sure if others missed it, but I can hear it still whisper in Shadowtongue. I cannot ask Sauda to translate it. He's too focused on destroying the evils of the world, he would no doubt want to destroy the crown too.
But I can ask him to teach me Shadowtongue, and then translate the whispers myself.

Headache

Wait... I have magic...

I can use Comprehend Language:

Oh, sure! They are variable but don't respond to attempts to communicate, more like a recording than a sentient item. Part of it seems to be various forms of encouragement to become undead.

- "You don't have to be subject to the petty whims gods, to spend an eternity in a demesne of their choosing."

- "You know when you die, your mind is scraped from you and discarded. The Gods care only for your soul. It is currency to them."

- "Imagine, a life without pain, without hunger and need for sleep. Imagine how much you could learn if you lived as I lived."

Others appear to be instructions.

- "When draining the soul from your sacrifice, it is imperative the phylactery be nearby, so that it may absorb the essence and be sustained by it. Only one a month is necessary, but it IS necessary."

- "The box must be of hard wood, I find ebony to be a suitable one, fit with bonds of cold iron to hold it closed and protect the spells within."

By listening to the ministrations of the crown, you can uncover about 1/3 of the process to become a lich. If you find more information, you may be able to unlock the archetype.

Quest #6 - The Woods Have Eyes

The Woods Have Eyes
It is now becoming clear to me that... I have begun to lie to myself. I claim to be a cleric of knowledge, and why I am dedicated to Nethys...
But it's not true
Not exactly
Not anymore

I have grown to despise you, Nethys. And I have grown to love you more than anything else at the moment. In serving you I can find comfort, because I can feel the duality of my feelings... understood.
In your dual nature, as someone who has once been human, I feel understood when I feel weak, and when I feel powerful.
I wish to continue serving you to the best of my abilities.

But in doing so, I must limit my servitude to you in favor of serving myself.
I need to find my own magic, my own power.
Perhaps it could be the power to defy the will of gods.
Defy the will of those who would wish me fall into the forgotten void.
But not you, would you?
I hope I have your blessing to Protect and to Destroy, to gather knowledge no matter where it brings me as long as it brings me power to fend for my own.
