Silvayn

This character is dead.
Wielder of Shield and Spell
PC

A fugitive from the Mergorod Militia who deserted his rank after a traumatizing incident. His time in the army changed him, awakened his magic, but he was also scarred for life: he was more cold, living without a goal. His travels would eventually lead him to Erenen hoping to find work, a purpose, and perhaps a new place to call home.

Early Years

Silvayn was born in Mergorod. A bustling port town, Mergorod used to be an enormous slave camp and the seat of power of the Dorwin rulers. Silvayn doesn't know his original parents, he was adopted at a young age by the Gorbul clan.

Silvayn lived there with his 3 adopted siblings: Agarth, his older brother, Suzura, his younger sister, and Foloni, his older sister. Silvayn's early years were like any other normal child, he was loved by his adopted parents and played/fought with his siblings.

One day, they were on a hunting trip as a family, and a tragic accident happened in the woods. Silvayn's older siblings were roughhousing and pushing him back in forth, calling him names and saying he was too weak.

This angered Silvayn, causing him to tackle his sister in anger, causing her to fall off a steep cliff behind them which resulted in her death. Agarth never forgave Silvayn for what he'd done, even though it was an accident.

Joining Mergorod's Militia

After the death of his sister, he decided he wanted to join the Mergorod Militia at age 15, mostly to avoid being at home all the time. Silvayn proved to be a very capable soldier and quickly climbed the promotional ladder.

He became proficient in a protective form of combat where he would often use his shield to protect his allies. His quick progress was noted by Bronn of Mergorod, who took a liking to the young soldier.

Early Operations & Meeting Mizara

In 632 5E, Silvayn was put in charge of Green Squad, which consisted of

  • Rana, a skilled Half-orc swordswoman
  • Halric, a Halfling scout with deadly aim
  • Lenore, a quiet but deadly Human

During one of his missions, he was sent to save a captured member of Red Squad, who later turned out to be Mizara, the daughter of Bronn of Mergorod.

Awakened Potency

Eventually, in 633 5E, Silvayn and Mizara found themselves invited to the elite ranks of the militia.

This is where they met Shurtha, an arcane trainer. Always looking for magic potential, she sensed some aptitude in Silvayn and in time would teach him the basics of spellcasting.

Mizara, however, proved to be something very special and was chosen as her favorite. From then on, Mizara had private magic lessons with Shurtha, and it seemed the rivalry between Silvayn and her had ended or at least paused.

The Hunt for Snagga

In 636 5E, on account of his continually improving skills with shield and spell, Silvayn was added to the hunt for the warlord Snagga, an Orc conqueror who wanted to unite rivaling Orc tribes.

During the hunt for Snagga, Silvayn suffered a severe blow to the head, after which he permanently lost his sense of smell.

He befriended Ghar, a Centaur from the Thornprowl clan of the Plains of Korzok, in 637 5E

The hunt for Snagga involved close cooperation with Bronn, which caused his rivalry with Mizara to flare up once more.

The Death of Bronn

Blinded by rage due to letting Snagga get away during a raid, Silvayn went after Snagga alone in 638 5E. He went out into the woods and fought and slew all Snagga clan members he could find.

Upon returning to camp, however, he discovered that Snagga had taken this time to strike. General Bronn lay dying, with Mizara holding him. She accused Silvayn, blaming him for the attack, and left with Shurtha. General Bronn would die in Silvayn's arms, granting him his shield with his final breath.

Fugitive from the Militia

That night, on the 14th of Summersdawn, 638 5E, Silvayn deserted from the Mergorod Militia. He left Dorion and started his new career as a mercenary.

The time in the army changed him, awakened his magic, but he was also scarred for life: he was more cold, living without a goal. His travels would eventually lead him to Erenen, hoping to find work, a purpose, and perhaps a new place to call home.
