Nyla, child of Thana, was known as the Saint of Humility amongst the Unknown. He was the one who was tasked of protecting what was referred to as the Gateway of the Dead. This was a shrine like space to honor those from the camps to pass on. Sitting within the archipelago now known as the Unknown, Nyla lived amongst the Nymphs. Those who represented the life of the land that they lived on, while he represented it's death. Nyla hated who he was and didn't enjoy anything he had to do. He was the one who had to ensure that the souls remained within their proper resting place.
It was always death for him. He grew tired of this and wanted to experience what life was. When the opportunity came he took it as quickly as he could. The Demons of Sin appeared within the archipelago. The Saints bound the demons to these Ilse out of fear of what they could do to the rest of the world. Nyla made a deal with the demon he was to bind. After realizing he would have needed to reside within the area to continue protecting the gate he confronted the Demon of Pride Unknown. He offered her the deal that she couldn't resist. He would not bind her or her powers, but she needed to do whatever she could to ensure that the land and the gate were protected. She agreed to the terms which allowed Nyla to be free of his duties finally. The nymphs were outraged with Nyla calling him a coward as their land as their land was being corrupted by the demonic energy. Nyla said nothing and because of his continued silence, the nymphs stitched his mouth shut. He fled and proceeded to venture to a new land.
Knowing that Vanity would not be able to have the same control of the gate as he would, he proceeded to test to see what would happen if souls bled out of the gate. His curiosity with souls lead him to meet Narrin Joker and The Reborn One. He joined Cirque du Mystère to further expand his curiosity of the souls capabilities.
