History 101

Primary

The history of Minnoa is wrought with the violent upheavals of displaced peoples and wildly differing cultural clashes. This is an attempt at piecing together clues from the past to understand where we are today so we can build a better future for the next generation.

Pre-History (PH) < 0

It is unknown if Minnoa was inhabited by sentients or not prior to the first portals depositing sentients fleeing genocide arriving. Some scholars argue that the seed of sentience bloomed in the plane itself and so was unable to form it's own and this is where the plan to "rescue" fleeing sentients came from, while other scholars claim that the original inhabitants opened the portals not realizing that they would be slaughtered for their kindness. Eventually there may be a consensus, but currently the competing theories all end in the same place, with the first arrival of groups fleeing genocide on their home planes.

  • Some scholars believe that the Succubus was an original race on Minnoa and their initial near genocide is what drives Minnoa to rescue those experiencing genocide throughout the Multiverse. This is far from agreed upon, especially among scholars who are Succubus themselves.

Something the Ki-Rin said about not having seen a Succubus born outside of the abyss makes this idea seem less likely.

Survival Era (SE) 1 — 4,000

This new land was so much more wild than anywhere sentients had come from when fleeing genocide. Ruins show that the first few thousand years were spent learning how to survive this strange new land cut of from their gods and without the knowledge of their ancestors to help. The records show of many attempts to contact deities from across the Multiverse, when confronted with the spirits of the places and items used, some would not accept and went mad, while others learned from them.

  • Fethrum 10 - 500 (+/- 300)

Brackish Moon Investigations found themselves mysteriously in tower imprisoning an archfey, a fiend, and a celestial who had all been trapped here and tortured in one way or another by some sort of magus named Fethrum of the Jade Orb. After escaping they learned more from their librarian contact Autumn, namely when the history books and scrolls estimate him to have been active, and that he had an obsession with the outer realms.

Age of War (WW) 4,000 — 6,000

Scholars are unsure of how the wars started, but within a couple hundred years the majority of the world was at war with each other.

There are still many scars on the land from these years, Shad Stax being the largest, as the whole continent east of the Whitefang mountain range was transformed in a series of escalating spells that backfired on the casters when a surge in the wild magic took over.

The creation of Sanctuary Cities by the Sanctuary City Alliance ultimately ended the wars by tying immense amounts of power into the running of city services. This gave all those living in the cities less access to powerful magic, but greater access to minor magic, and protected the cities from portals.

Age of Heroes (AH) 6,000 — 7,525

Whenever the Sanctuary City Alliance quietly went about their work harnessing Minnoa's erratic magic to build their cities, another type of group would inevitably be found nearby. Small bands of three to seven sentients who took it upon themselves to help people escape the violence and help people move into the newly forming sanctuaries. Occasionally some of these groups would become powerful enough to affect the fate and shape of nations, being branded heroes and villains depending on what version of history was taught in the region. One particular group The Seven Saviors, became so powerful in fact that they became the heads of state for all of Adron when Megatropolis was completed.

  • The seven members infamously met at a tavern and were hired by the tavern owner to escort him and his family to the new Sanctuary City he'd heard some talk of. After a successful job, they began hiring themselves out as a team, traveling all over Adron to escort anyone who could convince them, preferably using coin, escort them to Megatropolis as it would eventually be known.

Modern Era (ME) > 7,525

When Megatropolis was completed the Sanctuary City Alliance seems to have disappeared, whether they disbanded, moved into the Underdark, or onto another plane it is still a mystery.

What is known is that all peoples started thriving, sure the lands outside the cities are still wildly dangerous and industries like mining, logging, fishing, and travel are far riskier than they would be on a calmer plane, but the industries advance nonetheless.

The care and design of the cities fostered extremely fast adoption of the technomancy that was brought over from Eberron. A few hundred years later and we have airships powered by elementals who sign a contract to visit the material plane for a time and get shore leave when the ship is docked just like any other worker. Railcars powered by lighting, the Storm Transit lines employ storm giants while Blue and Bronze is run by a pair of dragons one blue the other bronze who both have a fascination with the short lived races that many dragons do not posses.
