In A Gathering Storm, their Chief, known as "the Orcripper" is killed by poison without a clear heir, and the tribe erupts into civil war. One of the major claimant factions is led by Hervok who allies with Tribe Threefinger to take over the clan fully. Hervok was then killed by Wretch "Shadowborn" following the Duel at Stubborn Rock, who takes over as Chief and claims the Thunderhammer for his own.
