Skullspire: A slender needle tower of black stone that stands on the leeward slope of the Shoulder of Lehreng, overlooking both Tulmon and the Crypt City, the Bonethrone (as Tulmonites disparagingly label it) is today a quiet place. This massive spire is a temple found within the south Faerunian town of Tulmon on the coast of the Lake of Steam in the 14th century DR.

In 1372 DR, its population was around 25,000 and was ruled by the sorcerer Arkanuirr Tchallem. Most of the buildings in the city are constructed of stone. Crypt City, part of the original city of Tulmon, is located nearby, and is used by the criminal underworld, despite being inhabited by undead. The inhabitants of the city distrust foreign wizards and sorcerers. Many small chapels are located along the Street of Balk.

For many years, the Skullspire served as home to the Conclave of Doom, which presided over the church of Myrkul and overseen by Deep Elder Doom Haaeluth Muribaert. Undead would be relocated to the Crypt City via the extended subterranean tunnels that connected the ruins to Skullspire.

Following the destruction of Myrkul in the Time of Troubles of 1358 DR the clergy within Skullspire converted to the worship of Cyric. It was a painless transition, due in part to the emotionless neutrality of the Myrkulyte priests. Ten years later, in 1368 DR, when Kelemvor ascended as the God of the Dead, the temple refocused their worship once again.

When the priests of Skullspire converted to the faith of Kelemvor, they ceased their necromancy within the temple. They shifted their focus to the destruction of the undead in Crypt City. But also, Tulmonites whisper, using their own spells to guard certain areas of the crypts. These places, it is said, are used as secretive meeting and storage places by certain covert merchant cabals and organizations active in Tulmon, who pay the temple well for such services. The Skullspire is now presided over by the grim gaunt former adventurer Doomlord Esprelus Morammon, a worshipper of Kelemvor, who often comes down from the temple to walk the streets of Tulmon in solitary contemplation, in the dead of night.
