Summary
- The party defended Luca Syara from Unknown (the elf).
- Luca (and Lozaal) lied to the guards, and described a wizard attempting to assassinate her. Thankfully, the party were there to save the day!
- Luca took the party out to Darbucks, and bought their drinks. She answered their questions.
- Luca is a Ghaele Eladrin, which translates to "archfey". That makes her the main character of a story in Thelanis, and she really shouldn't be on the Material Plane. Her siblings, the other archfey, desperately seek to return her to Thelanis, and to her neglected story.
- Luca believes she caused the Mourning. Her story is one of the tragedy of war, and every time she dedicates herself to a cause, it ends in disaster. She left Thelanis to fight for Cyre, to fight in a real war where she could make a difference, and then Cyre exploded.
- Luca was apparently unaware that she causes despair by her mere presence. Ouch.
- The group suggested that Luca should seek therapy, because wow.
- Luca was extended an offer of shelter at Avrahk Mbar'ost, which she may or may not take them up on.
- With that sorted, the group finally headed down to Fallen, and have seemingly located the rough area that contains the entity.
26th Olarune, 1000 YK
- The party intervened in an assassination attempt against Luca Syara. Luca has been revealed to be an Eladrin.
- The elf goes for Leonus and Luca, and tears the place up.
- Kalshana throws a muffin.
- Warden gets a clutch Entangle off and manages to restrain the elf for several turns, allowing them to beat her up.
- She escapes and then states that her mission is complete, she just wanted to play with them. She tells Luca to "say hi to your siblings for me" and then vanishes.
- After the fight, Luca returns to her human form.
- Guards burst into the room, and take in the scene. Luca flatly spins a tale of a wizard assassin, and then Lozaal gives the same statement to the guards. "These adventurers saved me from the wizard, who did all of this destruction."
- Dax and Kal grab muffins and other assorted treats from the backstage table.
- Luca buys them all a drink from Darbucks. She thanks them for not exposing her nature to the guards.
- Luca provides some background, that she's not supposed to be on Eberron. She abandoned her story, and there are fey who would want her to returned to it. Her expenditure of power during the fight will have alerted her siblings to her presence in Sharn.
- She believes she caused the Mourning.
- The others try to comfort her, but Lozaal thinks its plausible. Thelanis is unconventional. The others aren't sure that Fey could have possibly caused the Mourning, but Lozaal thinks it could happen if it was part of the story.
- Dax asks about Luca's siblings, and Luca inadvertently admits to being an Archfey.
- Dax asks about Luca's ability to spread despair, and notes its similarity to what's happening in Fallen. Luca doesn't know much of what's happening, she rarely leaves her office.
- Luca was unaware that she spreads despair by her mere presence. Oops.
- The despair gets worse. Oops.
- Dax posits that there may be a cure. Lozaal suggests a therapist.
- Dax asks if Luca wants to help, but she declines. Everyone she helps dies.
- Lozaal asks why she doesn't change her story. She seems perplexed by this, her story is who she is.
- They try to get through to her, but she seems unable to comprehend changing her story.
- Luca says she'll need to run, her siblings will come for her. The party offer her a place to stay at Avrahk Mbar'ost, but she worries for their safety. "Your home can weather several archfey?"
- Luca thanks them, but is worried they will all die if she takes them up on their offer.
- They're all very nonchalant about that!
- Warden puts his foot in it. "We couldn't let you die until we heard your story!"
- Dax clarifies that they aren't going to let her die now!
- Dax tries to identify the elf's sword. It's non-magical, Cannith standard.
- They ask if Luca had any idea what kind of fiend the elf was. She isn't sure, Lozaal mentions that she summoned shadowy weapons when they fought her before. Luca suggests that this is something that Mabaran spirits can do that. That would make the elf a spirit of murder, not just death.
- Lozaal asks "does that mean she took notes on me, to track me down to try and murder me?" and his tone of voice indicates he has...feelings about this.
- Dax suggests that the elf might not've been after Luca at all, but after the party. Luca states matter-of-factly that revealing her was a "dick move".
- Lozaal suggests that Leonus shouldn't use his resources at the behest of enemies.
- Leonus is like "well you've gotta give em the benefit of the doubt"
- "So you won't use all your power to kill a fiend, but you will when a fiend asks you to?" "...no"
- Luca asks what is happening right now?
- Leonus tries to explain his magic and how sometimes his divine spark needs a rest. He's not sure he'll ever get better at detecting stuff.
- Dax is perplexed. "In some ways you are perhaps too confident in your abilities, but not for this? It's strange you are very sure of yourself and also not sure of yourself"
- Luca gets up and says she's going to go find out what happened to her office. Dax offers to escort her, but she declines. Dax says not to be surprised if Luca hears a voice in her head later.
- Progress! They know the elf is an angel of death from Mabar.
- Lozaal asks if this is why Leonus got in her way, he could feel the Mabar-iness and was attracted to it. Leonus gets flustered and is like "I didn't think she was hot!"
- "That's not what I'm raising in the mausoleum's!"
- Dax reminds Leonus that outside of Karrnath, people aren't that familiar with necromancy.
- They have a short rest to recover some resources before they head down to Fallen.
27th Olarune, 1000 YK
- The short rest takes them to the next day! It's like 12:30 am.
- Dax leads them all down to Fallen. They take the skycoach, with Zedd flying ahead of it to warn them of the anti-flight zone.
- Once in Fallen, they send Zedd round in circles to try and find the edge of the no-flight zone. Warden also summons Nova and sends him in the opposite direction to Zedd.
- Zedd finds it first, falling out of the sky. Zedd then leaves the zone, and flies around it. Nova does the same. It takes Zedd 7 and a half minutes to complete the circle, and it takes Nova 12 minutes. It seems the effect has a radius of about half a mile. Both of them fell a few times on the way round, so the zone isn't completely static.
- Dax works out roughly where the center of the zone should be. Next session, they're gonna deal with this!
