Created by forbidden magics, Ossitherians (also called Theri, or simply "undead" by the ignorant) were once human. While some of them are free individuals, the majority belong to secret societies. In most human settlements, they're attacked on sight. Only freeholds such as Kurzmarch Ford and relatively lawless places (like Düsterdorf) seem to accept them. Others disguise themselves to walk among the humans they were once close to.

Their supernatural physiology makes them capable of inhuman speed, and they're resilient to boot. However, the lack of healing and bodily senses can be a double-edged sword. Ossitherians see past light and dark into a world of colorless forms. The only color (or beauty) they ever see is magical energy. Everything else looks like nothing so much as a clay sculpture. Healing does not occur naturally, and the spellcraft to properly mend enchanted bone takes care and patience.

Fleshless: All damage is converted to Shock (after reductions from any armor). Example: A theri knight wearing plate mail (2 LAR) is hit with 3SK. The 3K is reduced to 2S, and the original 3S of the attack is reduced to 1S by the armor, for a total of 3 shock damage.

Nether Vision: Gain +1WD in Eerie, but any vision-dependent Sense rolls begin at Difficulty 4.

Unhealing: All damage remains until magically repaired. At the end of combat, do not remove half of all shock damage.

Gruesome: It’s unusually unpleasant to look upon you. Your GM may give –1d penalties to Command or Charm Skills, if she feels that being appallingly hideous might impact them. You cannot take the ‘Beauty’ Advantage. You get a bonus XP in any session where this penalty is levied.

Unstable Spirit: You are vulnerable to any magics that target the soul, and any attempt to resist begins at -1d.
