Description

This village of tree huts predates the arrival of Christian settlers, and very few Christians live here.  It's a quite different way of life here than in Tullach Port.  Anyone living here likely has some fae blood in them; many are quite obviously Halflings. There are likely even a few fae that live here!

Mighty Oak Inn & Tavern

The Mighty Oak Tavern is a very popular and historic establishment. Bards and patrons say that the tree at its center is as old as the island itself, and that it’s always served as a place of respite and welcome to everyone.

Those who have never visited the village before might find the communal atmosphere to be a bit odd.  There are very few rooms for rent, and they are very expensive, almost prohibitively so, but you can sleep in a hammock up above for quite cheap, with a small rental fee if you didn’t bring one of your own.  A few of the poorer residents live here permanently, calling these hammock spaces home.

This single-room cabin serves as a chapel where the five or ten or so Christians in Glaisinkyl gather on Sundays to worship.  It's a small extension of the church in Tullach Port, and the priests typically come and go, staying for weeks or months at a time.  However, the art on the walls is *mostly* featuring St. Brigid, and its most defining feature is the circular fire pit in the center, which the village Brigidines keep lit at all times.

They say that when you are returning to the village, if you speak someone’s name as you walk beneath the archway, it will bring them good fortune! It is said to work especially well if you speak their True Name.

The Derryhaven House

The Derryhaven House is something between an inn and a boarding house.  Most of its residents are longterm, while most temporary travelers stay at the Mighty Oak, but a traveler could certainly rent a room on a short term basis if they didn’t mind that it was more expensive than a hammock space at the Mighty Oak.   The people here live communally and share the common areas.  Some even save on the room and board fee by sharing rooms.  Others… afford their rent by renting out their *own* beds, with them still in it, if you catch my meaning.

Community Garden

This garden is maintained communally and is mostly used for growing medicinal herbs and other helpful things.  You'll see people plucking weeds as they pass by along their way, or taking something they need, and only what they need.

Caravans

Capture.JPG?width=720&height=405

Caravans come and go from Glaisinkyl to Tullach Port every few days, usually stopping at Leaning Rock, which is about halfway between. If you’re traveling from one to another, you can usually find a spot in one of the wagons for a few copper, if you don’t want to brave the wilds alone. If you show up with a weapon and a reputation for knowing how to use it, you might also be hired on to guard the caravans from highwaymen. The merchants usually stay in town (many of them have friends in the area to stay with, others stay in the Might Oak), but sell their wares out of the wagons by day in a clearing by the river. Those who live in town also bring their wares here to sell.
