Vandermane is ruled by King Trebor Hawkwind, but otherwise has very limited nobility. Most cities are governed by either a reeve, sheriff, or in some cases a military official of some accomplishment.

Consisting mostly of wide open plains, Vandermane contains the most arable land out of the three major countries, as well as having the most seaside land access. As such, its major exports are grains, fruit and vegetable crops, and fish.

Due to its limited access to metal deposits, most metal for tools, arms, and armor in Vandermane comes from trade with the more mountainous kingdom of Ressaria. With this limitation, most citizens of Vandermane opt for more readily available leather armor.

Vandermane is defended primarily by an effective combination of highly skilled archers and cavalry. Its defense is aided by the winding roads between its cities; while enemy armies can be expected to take to the roads, Vandermane horsemen are used to cutting across rough terrain, ignoring the roads to more effectively mobilize their troops.

Owing partly to the close proximity of the Vandermane border and Ertue'a Vassala, Vandermane boasts the largest half-elf population in the basket. While humans are still the most populous species, half-elves (and some elves who have left their homeland to live out a relationship with a member of a mortal race, or seeking excitement and adventure) make up the next highest percentage of the sum total. Halflings and orcs vie for the third spot, the open plains of Vandermane being appealing both to those who would build a thriving shire, and those who believe in a more nomadic lifestyle. While there are members of other races living in Vandermane, and especially in or near major cities, they are not as great in number.
