Though not ordinarily noted to hold any power themselves, that which is embodied by the sacred lithophones known as the godstones is more than enough to exemplify hope from the comfort they provide towards the faithful they are held and struck by.

Anacrusis

Dating back as far as the earliest remembered sagas go, their exact origin remains lost to time. Believed to be corporeal remnants of the Gods left behind during Their stay on Kälran millennia ago, the godstones are seemingly neither created by nature, nor by science.

Found across the whole frozen continent, they are primarily seen to lay throughout Ljusdalen, or the Valley of Light, leading into the Sölantils, where no matter how much snow may fall, they can always be noticed along the ground as far as the eye can see.

Composition

Whilst all are unique in their presented form, every godstone offers the overall impression they are each made of the same matter, but with a few key distinctions between them relating to the One they are aligned to.

Those associated with Rae's providence exhibit a subtle yellow tinge. When struck they glitter with glints of radiant light, and emit a deep thrumming melody as if proclaiming glory to far beyond, up above.

With a more off-white or grey tone to them, Ien's sphere is clear. Reminiscent of what people consider to sound like the impressive ocean waves of yore ebbing peacefully, kinesis causes ripples to spread across them in entrancingly dazzling patterns.

The pieces of Jul's dominion illustrate a pale blue hue. Sparking almost as richly as the long night skies, a high-pitched resonance befitting the Frozen Star may be heard when clacking these vestiges together.

Impenetrable as far as manufactured tools are concerned, their attempted desecration is considered to be a grievous demonstration of blasphemy, and scarcely any would dare seek to upset either their kin or the Ones so many believe in, lest they be forsaken in the dark.

Ultimately, the chief purpose of these cherished talismans is to serve as a connection between the loved, and the lost. All followers of the Celestial Triumvirate and Their ilk recognise the influence of these stones, even if it is commonly acknowledged that the potential associated with them is outward, rather than inward.

Having an ancillary use as devices for the creation of joyous music and other types of ecstatic performance, vivacious acts of both visual and auditory majesty are observed at the Deoshenge, or Godstone, in Borealis. Which takes its namesake from the other is left to wonder, but the two are intrinsically linked not just by the displays put on, but also by the not dissimilar larger standing stones that reside in the holy site. An enriched vibrancy is apparent when numerous echoing instruments amplify in proximity to one another, and their colours flow and glow in fantastic synchronicity.

As hallowed objects, when their carrier passes on they tend to be laid to rest at either the Deoshenge for civilians, or are conveyed to Peytfel for those lost in service. In each case, solemn funeral rites are executed in their memory.

Rarely, they are made into pendants by tying strong thin rope around them to keep a grip. Even more exceptionally, they are stoneset into the armaments of Glacial Knights. There is no benefit or key reason to either practice beyond the method in which the devoted profess their ardour.
