Districts

The Gulls is a district that historically focused on Elven visitors, which were not always welcomed into the city proper. The fact that the Elves got a district inside the city walls while the Grit is located outside of the city walls, never sat right with local dwarven clans.

Nobility Hill lays just outside of the Royal Castle. A luxurious district, filled with embassies, ballrooms, and apartments.

The Exchange is the beating heart of commerce, with many banks, trade offices, and administrative facilities.

Warrior's Ward is the first district entered when approaching Heaton from the direction of Heastead over the Capital Road. This district historically houses a lot of amenities for adventurers and mercenaries: inns, weapons- and armor stores and merchants hoping to make a quick profit on ill-gotten ancient relics.

Old Town houses the working class of the city.

The Palisades features spacious manors, private museums, and fancy stores.

The Craft District provides much-added value to the city's economy by refining the goods coming through the port.

The Docks cover the western side of the city. Given Heaton's function, this area is lively day and night. Sailors stock up and relax, merchants try to sell their wares for the best price, and caravans are loaded with goods for transport throughout Erenen.

The Grit is a Dwarven district. As dwarves started to work in the mines of the Orium Ridge, the people of Heaton soon discovered that dwarves tend to get... rowdy when off duty. A few clever entrepreneurs saw a golden opportunity and built dwarven-centric inns, taverns, and bars near the northern edge of town. And thus, the Grit came to be.

Geography & Travel

Heaton's proximity to Imland makes it a popular trade port. Ships often sail further north, to export the valuable goods coming through Erenen.

Heaton is not without crime; rumors have it that there are several groups vying for control of the city from the shadows.

Early 642 5E saw the following gangs active:

  • The Street Hounds in Old Town
  • The Granite Lord in The Grit, Craft District, and The Docks
  • The Red Brigade in Warrior's Ward.
  • Tedonth Ath in the Exchange and Nobility Hill.
  • The Blackjaws have been causing a mess all over the place

Following recent events, the situation has shifted:

  • Both the Tedonth Ath and Granite Lord presenced in the city has disbanded.
  • The Street Hounds have taken over the Craft District, and are fighting for turf in The Grit, The Exchange, and the Palisades.
  • The Blackjaws have settled in the Docks, and are fighting the Street Hounds over the Palisades.
  • The Red Brigade is trying to expand towards The Stables and The Exchange.
  • The Graycloaks, a newly formed gang of pickpockets and beggars, have been trying to seize the Stables from their base in the Southern Slums.
  • The Morningstar Gang has seized control of the Eastern Slums, and is fighting over The Grit.
  • The Knife-ears have a foothold in The Gulls, and want to take over Nobility Hill.
