Starilaskur is a large Brelish city in northern Breland. It is a major lightning rail stop, providing a jumping off point for travelers coming to and from Zilargo, as well as being one of the final stops before Thrane. The city also lies at the juxtaposition of several Orien trade roads.

A network of kenku spies calling themselves the Nightswift has infiltrated various metropolitan cities across Khorvaire. The Nightswift maintains secret meeting halls (called “eyries”) in Zarash’ak (the Shadow Marches), the Great Crag (Droaam), Sharn and Starilaskur (Breland), Wyvernskull (Darguun), Taer Valaestas (Valenar), and Newthrone (Q’Barra). Guilds of kenku thieves and assassins are equally prevalent; the largest of these is called Shadoweye’s Flock, based in Starilaskur. The stately guildmaster, Shadoweye (NE female kenku rogue 8/assassin 4), has white plumage that testifies to her advanced age, and rumor is she’s looking for a worthy successor.

Notable Locations

Circle of the Invisible Shield — consists of former members of the Golden Door guild of House Kundarak who obtained independence some time ago. The Circle of the Invisible Shield is a guild of ritualists in Starilaskur that is focused on warding rituals. They offer their services to anyone who can afford them, and are also willing to teach some of what they know at a relatively high cost.

Junction Plaza — the only distinct district in the city, the “plaza” is actually a rather large region surrounding the lightning rail stop of Starilaskur. House Orien maintains a small enclave here, and numerous shops and inns are set up here as well.

Junction Arms & Armour — the largest weapon and armor shop in the town, named for the plaza it is found in. Any kind of weapon and armor can be bought and sold here (but nothing magic).

History

On 15 Therendor, 916 YK, the city, in the hands of the Brelish, was attacked by a major Thrane assault. This was despite the fact that the assault occurred on the holiday known as Sun's Blessing, traditionally a day of peace where even armies cease fighting. As a result, many Brelish consider the attack to have been deeply dishonorable.
