The Numina (singular: numen) are the deities of the universe. Each one tends to represent a different aspect of sentience and sapience, such as love, peace, war, trickery, sadness, and death. Numina can choose to present themselves in whatever gender they prefer, but they are otherwise agreed upon to be genderless.

Although the stories surrounding Numina tend to differ slightly, many of the threads stay the same. The most common legend is that the Numina are the race by which celestials and erinyes spawned from, each only able to contain one aspect of a numen's raw energy. Some cultures across the galaxy still refer to celestine as numenite, indicative of their belief that celestine originates from the Numina as well.

Before the existence of interstellar travel, cultures had developed their own stories and belief systems on their experiences contained to their own planet, such as the Jozik and Nibash'rang spreading the legend of Edia and Ihmir chasing each other in Oloria's night sky. After nearly two centuries of anthropologic analysis into the stories of different planets across the Caelum Galaxy on the part of the Consortium of Ancestral Preservation, it was determined that these religious beliefs held common thread through the Numina.

Despite many attempts, there have been no confirmed reports of sighting a Numen.
