After the ship being hit by something large beneath the waterline, captain Grim Ironclaw and crew managed to beach their ship, "The Senga", on the savage shores of Torath-Ka.
Grim, Schales and Ramsey set off down the coast to search for provisions while the rest of the crew salvaged what they could from Senga's wreckage. A few miles down the coast, the encountered a velociraptor-like creature native to Torath-Ka; a Yellowback. This was the first taste of why they call this island the "Savage Lands". Luckily, though, the party are skilled combatants and made quick work of the Yellowback and even managed to turn its flesh into a tasty, nutritious snack. They also found a small skiff that must have been washed up on shore a few months ago. It's not seaworthy - but maybe it could be repaired.
Having done what they set out to do, they returned to the ship only to have their worst fears confirmed. The ship had been burnt to the waterline. And if that wasn't bad enough, the crew and supplies were nowhere to be found. The party inspected the area and found tracks and drag marks leading into the dense jungles of Torath-Ka's interior. If the beasts of Torath-Ka weren't threatening enough, so is the climate and terrain. After an hour or two of trudging through the jungle, the party ended up at a clearing. Everybody has heard rumours of the Redmen and their foul rituals, but few have seen it with their own eyes. Even fewer, live to tell the tale. Only a handful of the crew was left. The rest... presumably are now resting at the bottom of the pool of blood.
The party hatched a rescue plan; Ramsey created a flash of blinding light, Grim let out an intimidating roar and the party quickly made their move. But what they weren't prepared for was the summoning ritual. The stories of Redmen in the jungle summoning their beast gods weren't just tales created to scare children into behaving. They are very real. After pushing one of the remaining crew into the pool of blood, the Redman shaman unleashed a Giant Monkape on the party. 20-feet tall and strength to match, the beast was just too much for the party to handle. Grim managed to throw the shaman into the pool of blood. The shaman dissolved into nothing but bones which now lie at the bottom of the pool. This gave him time to untie the 5 remaining crew of the ship and begin their escape. But it was too late. Ramsay, despite his vast knowledge of water magic, is still a frail old man. And the Redman proved too much. Schales, seeing Ramsay incapacitated and bleeding out, quickly disengaged from the Giant Monkape to rescue Ramsay. Grim, Ramsay, Schales and what's left of the crew now try to make their escape through the jungle with the Giant Monkape in tow...
