Spellcasting

When you reach 3rd level, you augment your martial prowess with the ability to cast spells.

Spell Slots

The Wof of the Elements Spellcasting table shows how many spell slots you have to cast your spells of 1st level and higher. To cast one of these spells, you must expend a slot of the spell's level or higher. You regain all expended spell slots when you finish a long rest.

For example, if you know the 1st-level spell Burning Hands and have a 1st-level and a 2nd-level spell slot available, you can cast Burning Hands using either slot.

Spells Known of 1st Level and Higher

You know two 1st-level sorcerer spells of your choice, two of which you must choose from the conjuration, evocation, or transmutation spells on the sorcerer spell list.

The Spells Known column of the Way of the Elements Spellcasting table shows when you learn more sorcerer spells of 1st level or higher. Each of these spells must be a conjuration, evocation, or transmutation spell of your choice, and must be of a level for which you have spell slots. For instance, when you reach 8th level in this class, you can learn one new spell of 1st or 2nd level.

Whenever you gain a level in this class, you can replace one of the sorcerer spells you know with another spell of your choice from the sorcerer spell list. The new spell must be of a level for which you have spell slots, and it must be a conjuration, evocation, or transmutation spell.

Spellcasting Ability

Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for your sorcerer spells, since you know your spells through dedication and practice. You use your Wisdom whenever a spell refers to your spellcasting ability. In addition, you use your Wisdom modifier when setting the saving throw DC for a sorcerer spell you cast and when making an attack roll with one.

Spell save DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier

Spell attack modifier = your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier

Elemental Strike

Starting at 3rd level, you can augment your weapon attacks with the power of the elements. As a bonus action on your turn, you can spend 1 ki point to change the damage type of your weapon attacks to one of the following damage types: Acid, Cold, Fire, Lightning, or Thunder. This change lasts for 1 minute, or until you use this feature again.

Elemental Ki

At 6th level, you learn to convert your ki into your elemental power. As an action, you may convert some of your ki into a spell slot which you have expended, and are able to cast, at a rate seen in the Ki Conversion Table below.

Elemental Resistance

Starting at 11th level, you learn the technique to resist damage done to you by the elements. When you are hit by an attack that deals Acid, Cold, Fire, Lightning, or Thunder damage, you can spend 3 ki points and use your reaction to gain resistance to that damage type. This resistance lasts for 1 minute, or until you use this feature again.

Elemental Form

At 17th level. you learn to harness and truly embody a form of the elements. As an action, spend 5 ki points, choose a damage type from Acid, Cold, Fire, Lightning, or Thunder, and gain the following benefits:

  • You gain a number of temporary hit points equal to your monk level
  • You gain immunity to the selected damage type
  • Your weapon attacks deal an additional 1d6 damage of the selected damage type
  • You gain a flying speed equal to your walking speed, and can hover

This form lasts for 1 minute, or until you use this feature again. You can use this feature once, and gain the ability to do so again when you finish a long rest.
