Answers or death?

Session 17
2020-07-23

Sirona Boyd summons her healing powers and brings the severely beaten mage-impostors along with Torsar (The Dream-master) back into consciousness.
The two men in mage robe start swearing and telling Torsar to stay silent. Sirona decides to separate him from the others and takes him to the kitchen as he seems more cooperative. At the same time, Jak o' the Wisp pulls one of the other men into a bedroom for interrogating. Labrat goes with Sirona and Adrian Maulitz goes with Jak. Irdien Talvaeth remains in the storage room with the third guy.
Jak tries threatening the thug with violence, but as that doesn't have any effect, he starts mentioning more sexual assaults. This causes the thug to violently fling himself backwards, crushing his head against the stone floor.

Sirona asks the Dream-master for information but starts realizing that he doesn't know much beyond letting Sigmund and Paulos collect bodied from his basement. The mention of Paulos name makes her remember that the priest Landon Smithson was supposed to find Paulos at The Dreammaster. She asks which one of the men was Paulos and The Dream Master informs her that it was the gentleman Jak pulled away.

As the interrogation goes on, Jak enters the kitchen and starts speaking with The Dream Master. As they start talking about his previous life on the sea, Sirona decides that she needs to interrogate Paulos instead and leaves for the bedroom.

Simultaneously Irdien is getting annoyed at Sigmund still swearing and calling her racist slurs. She takes out her knife to get him to shut up by throwing it at the floor by his leg, but her attack makes him flinch, causing the dagger to hit straight into one of the major arteries in his thigh. He falls unconscious as his blood starts spraying all over the floor. She quickly pulls the dagger free, but before she can do anything else, there is a terrifying scream from the bedroom.

As Sirona enters the bedroom to find Adrian looting the dead body of Paulos, Paulos suddenly open his eyes and lunges with sharp teeth and claws straight into Adrian. As Adrian pulls away, she sees his body having an adverse reaction to whatever the undead creature got into his body. Adrian falls unconscious.

Having heard, the wail of the creature followed by Sirona's scream Labrat rushes in, immediately engaging the monster. Sirona pulls Adrian's body out of harm's way and heals him before trying to throw a javelin at the undead. She is standing to close, and the monster starts attacking her, but she managed to hide behind her wooden shield.

Jak, still in the kitchen, turns himself into w Will of the wisp's and flies through a small crack in the kitchen wall connected with the bedroom. As Adrian sees the remains of what used to be Paulos furiously trying to claw through Sirona's' shield he pulls himself off the floor and swings his sword and axe, but the recent experience makes it hard for him to focus, and his strokes go wide.

Labrat shots lightning and keeps fighting trying to force the creature's attention off of Sirona. While the monster is distracted, Sirona quickly pulls out her war pick and almost slams the head of it. At this moment, Irdien arrives running through the door, pulling her dagger and throwing it straight at the small neck piece still holding the creature together. It just barely graces the skin, but it is enough for the head to burst free and the monster immediate starts decomposing and falling into a heap of blood and gore. At the same time, Jak burst into view, slamming his sword into the already defeated pile.

Nobody has ever seen Jak use this power before so everybody takes a moment just to stare at his sudden appearance. Sirona realizes that their best chance for answers now lies with Sigmund and turns to go back to the storage room. Irdien panics and runs past her blocking the door begging her not to go inside. Sirona understands that something must have happened and opened the door anyway. She quickly examined the body, and even though he is dead, he isn't brain dead yet. She managed to revive him, using her last healing magic.

Sigmund is very shaken by the occurrence of his untimely demise but still refuses to talk. Irdien threatens to kill him again. Jak enters sulkily and says that he will never find the pumpkin man and will probably get killed for failing to protect him. Sigmund exclaims that he is the pumpkin man and at those words, Jak tries to stab him. Sirona managed to push him enough to miss, but as Jak tries again while Irdien tries holding him back, he breaks free and stabs Sirona who intercepted the attack. She has no magic left to heal herself, so she just presses her hand over the wound to make it stop bleeding. At this attack on Sirona, Labrat storms in and pin Jak to the ground.

Sigmund cries out that we're all crazy and that he will tell us what we want to know as long as we can get him out safely to a place where The Seekers of the Lost won't find him.
