Cozartl

Session 11
2020-05-20

Labrat carries Rumwald Paige to his bed, and Sirona Boyd tucks him in. The group heads back to the guild for a much-needed rest. After waking up a bit too early for comfort and herding everyone out save for Jak o' the Wisp, Sirona gets them all back to The Distiller and The Doe. Adrian Maulitz has to pay for the entry fee to the Saddle.

Sirona asks the clerk at the reception to fetch Commander Lexington Kane immediately. The paladin arrives around 15 minutes later and agrees to help them patrol the docks searching for the crusaders, but they need an hour to get ready. Adrian pays for the group to get in on the hotel breakfast buffet but only pockets a couple of items before heading off alone to the docks. He pays the Captain of a tall ship some coins to get to climb the crow's nest and survey the area from a high vantage point.

Meanwhile, the girls are waiting for the paladins and enjoying the lavish buffet. They all have an unfavorable reaction to drinking coffee for the first time, but most everything else is fantastic.
When the Paladins emerged, it becomes evident that a lot of them have family connections as Fortitude Kane nee Gravelock and Lexington are married. However, Fortitude clearly doesn't want any special treatment from her Commander.

At the docks, the party split up a bit trying to spot any crusaders. Sirona asked around about the attack the other day and learned that it was sailor working on a ship called The Mariner. She is docked further away, by the lighthouse. Labrat and the worker Sirona has been questioning both suddenly spot the group of crusaders walking up the street behind them. They quickly make sure that the paladins also have seen them and starts to follow towards the lighthouse.

In the meantime, Adrian decides that he needs to get closer. He walks the sails from the ship he currently resides in and over to another. From there he jumps down to the opposite docking site landing feet first straight into a barrel of freshly caught fish.

As they all surround the crusaders, the paladins and the crusaders start arguing. Right before the crusaders are about to draw their weapons, Adrian steps in trying to reason with them. He tells them that he himself recently had a change of heart regarding certain things and that killing isn't always the answer. The Crusaders won't be swayed and just as a fight is about to break out Sirona, Labrat and Irdien Talvaeth together with Fortitude gets ambushed by a group of sailors that are all clearly under demonic influence. The Demon, Cozartl, is cackling and honing in on Sirona telling her that he will make sure to deliver her to the master.

Adrian immediately shreds the leader of the crusader's group and yells to the rest of them to surrender. They do, and the paladins step in to secure their capture.

Around the building, a dominated sailor carrying a hooked net charge forward to catch Sirona but Labrat intercepts to protect her. The Demon shoots out a black and purple cloud enveloping Sirona, causing her to get feeble. Irdien vanishes from view while another sailor throws a net over Labrat. They all start closing in around her, but she holds her ground protectively. Adrian runs up to join them, but as he tries to get a shot at the imp demon flying over their heads, his bowstring breaks. Irdien suddenly appears on top of a rooftop and manages to fire off an arrow hitting the Demon's leg so that it shrieked out in pain. The battled continues. Sirona manages to recover from the strange smoke just as Labrat also gets attacked by it. She chokes and gets unsteady in her stance. Adrian jumps in and cuts down one of the sailors.

Right as it starts to look grim the voices of three Silver Shield's and Jak reaches the group. They all charge in and Jak blast of another amazing riff on his lute, making the Demon explode. No longer under the demons, diabolical influence, they all fall down.

Fortitude and Sirona start using their powers to mend everyone's wounds, and Jak takes it upon himself to help the shaken and drained sailors to bury their fallen companion properly.
The group joins on a short boat ride out of the docks where Sirona says a prayer and Jak plays a song before they let the sailor's body fall into the ocean.
