A shoping round in Eldolan

Session 09
2020-05-10

Finishing up their investigation at the square, where the Zombie attack took places, the group decide to heads over to the Saddle district.
There is a fee to enter which they pay, and Jak o' the Wisp disguises his face not to get recognized when passing the guards.

They find a lovely fountain in the middle of the main square that Sirona Boyd makes a wish to before they enter the Tavern The Distiller and The Doe. It turns out to be much more than a tavern; it has a separate lobby before a detached restaurant, and only they know how many rooms for overnight guests. Jak and Adrian Maulitz start discussing wine, which after some awkward misunderstandings it put on the Paladins tab.

The Paladins in the Lobby are a human male named Joel Kane; a stout dwarven woman called Fortitude Kane nee Gravelock; a gnomish man by the name Erji and an elven woman called Kassini. They are on their way to investigate rumors' of a summoned creature in Dombuton and ask if we want to help. The group declines. Sirona going so far as saying that she doesn't want to go back. The Paladins doesn't press her further, but ask that in that case if we're going to keep an eye on The Crusader's people that would be helpful. The crusaders are at an inn in the Warrants, called The Broken Drum, and they are investigating some cultist activity occurring at the docks in Eldolan.

Fortitude equips Labrat and Sirona with a shield each and Sirona gets a new set of armor. While they are gone, Adrian, now his third glass of wine, asks what the Paladins thinks about Wererats. Upon returning and seeing how noticeably drunk the monster-hunter has gotten Fortitude sobers him up with a healing word.

Done with their affairs and lunch the group head over to the shop; Augury and Alchemy. Hybald of Breness, who Adrian previously met when the group crossed the mighty stone bridge, runs it.
The group spend a decent amount of money in the shop, getting fireworks, a silver axe, a war pick and a masterwork dagger as well as some throwing once. When Sirona asks to trade her magical holy symbol of light Hybald directs them to The Emporium on the school grounds called The Relic Hunters. He tells us to say that we've sent him and ask for Garados Kessmir, the guild master of The Lamplight Guild.

On the way over to the emporium, Adrian admits that he intends to break into the Wererats home in the middle of the night but agrees to let Irdien Talvaeth come with him. Adrian also promises Jak o' the Wisp that we will not kill the Wererat unless he has no other choice. Irdien says that she will make sure Adrian keep his word.

The group managed to get into the school grounds even though they are not student or teachers by convincing the guards that they have business with Garados Kessmir. The man turns out to be an older mage that not only agrees to exchange Siron's true magical item for another, Holy Symbol of Dodging Doom, but also hires the group to investigate the Zombie attack. He says that we will pay 20 gold for each clue to bring to the council and an additional 1000 gold if we managed to catch the guilty party dead or alive. Adrian hands over the evidence we've already found for this morning, and we get paid 80 gold for it. If we find more, we are told to come directly to him or go to the Lamplight guild and speak with their managed, Arlissa Thent.

For the rest of the day, the group decides to split up. Adrian wants to scout out the Wererat's house to make a plan with Irdien. He confesses to her that he has changed his mind and wants to see if he can break the curse instead of killing him. Irdien finds a hidden spare key to the house that they leave behind for now. Returning to the Monster hunter's guild house, Adrian starts diligently search through the library for potential cures for the Wererat curse. Irdien decides to start making dinner and waiting for the rest of the group to come back.

Jak, Sirona and Labrat are staying in the Saddle for about two hours. Jak wants to try and make some money by performing at some local taverns, and the girls are happy to observe. They even help by tossing him some coins, encouraging other patrons to do the same.

On their way back to the Guild house Jak spots one more tavern he wants to play in, making them an hour later than they originally intended. While Jak is playing Sirona overhears a drunk crusader speak of how they found and killed a dwarf in the docks that was possessed by an angry demon. It sounds like they are referring to a Cozartl, which is a demon that amplifies the worst in people. The drunk man speaks about rounding up and beating a lot of people that even this man understands are most likely not connected to the cult's activity. The man doesn't seem to mind that at all.

Jak ends his performance by a bit clumsily giving Siroan a lit firework piece that they let lose into the evening sky outside the tavern accompanied by a musical riff. As they make their way back to the guild house and round a corner, they spot six Silver Shield soldiers on the doorstep talking to Irdien. They have a warrant and wants to be let in to search for the traitor Jak and arrest him.
