Taq'sum Almiah

Drink

The Taq'sum Almiah (Ba'hramic for "Shared Water" or "Sharing of the Waters") is an important ritual and drink of the Badawi people of the Ba'hram Desert. The drink is of great symbolic and ritual importance to the Badawi due to the importance of water to their culture.

The Taq'sum Almiah is a collection of saliva from multiple people which is then mixed and divided among those who provided saliva. It is then drunk in unison. No further ingredients are added, because, according to a common Badawi saying"the water is the bond," and to dilute it in any way would sully the bond. The water-sharing is a powerful statement of fraternity to the Badawi due to the importance water holds to their people. To reject the ritual is the ultimate insult, and to invoke it is comparable to adoption into a family or the creation of a blood pact.
