Half elves are the products of relationships between humans and elves. For the latter, this type of relationship is not held in high esteem under normal circumstances, so the products of these trysts are often swept under the rug, often though exile.
Most of the half-elf population exists in human communities, or end up becoming a type of traveler, with some entertaining darker pursuits. Their human nature often shines through and can fill a half elf with great ambition; coupled with their longer lifespan, half elves can accomplish much in their lifetimes.
On the whole, many people of all races find half elves attractive.
Half elves that stay in elven communities are often not afforded the same rights or respect as a full-blood.
