Palefire is a special alchemical fire that resembles a raging, grey explosion that is capable of cleaving through the most solid of materials, as if it was being stuck simultaneously by thousands of axes. Its creation and distribution is illegal in most countries, and in many places of the world, merely the knowledge of how to create Palefire is punishable by death. According to legend, the original concoction was created by a chef from Pallam that was experimenting with exotic spices. While the chef reportedly died in the first palefire explosion, his apprentice managed to recreate the conditions from his masters notes, going on to conquer a small corner of the kingdom before being stopped by the royal army.

Palefire was used by Sanaris during the Great Throne War, specifically during the final siege on Sanar by the Alliance. While the capital fell regardless, the secrets of palefire were apparently passed to Betaria, who launched an extremely offensive campaign against Falderheim using the substance. While Betaria was ultimately beat back into submission, the reemergence of palefire established a global fear of renewed knowledge and circulation of the powerful alchemy.
