History

Karcius grew up in his home village alongside his family, including Journey and Valx. He was next in line to become the Great Sorcerer, the leader of the village.

At some point, the Dracohest invaded the village, undermining Karcius' plans of leadership. After receiving a vision from Ferazir, he escaped from the village alongside Valx, Valdos, and Kairar, though the latter two perished in the ensuing chaos.

For months, Karcius tracked leads in order to find Journey, eventually chartering a ship to Gessaria from Fusalis and traveling across the land in his pursuit. While in northern Sanaris, Karicus experienced the distress call from Haradumeir, and was connected to Journey for a brief time. Making his was down to Hymathel, Karcius asked around town about a purple tiefling and was given leads to one headed to Taerin Ucarin. He tracked the tiefling through the mountains and into the woods of Shiloae, where he finally realized he had been tracking the mercenary Whisper the entire time. After being attacked by the Divine Branch and being forced to flee by a powerful figure, he established a contract with the Broken Band to assist him in locating and subduing Journey.

After the Peas dispatched the Bottle Demon and were receiving accolades in a town square in Hymathel, Karcius was present in the crowd, and waved at Journey. He directly confronted her after the group fled to Sanar, wishing her to come with him to fulfill his vision, but after a bit of escalation from Tyerjon, he resolved to dispatch of her friends and take her by force. When the Peas managed to neutralize the Broken Band and Wander stole his casting focus, Karcius resorted to using the power of a strange black orb, making him extremely violent and bloodthirsty. The group managed to subdue him, and after a few hours, he managed to calm down.

The Peas later met up with Karcius in a hideout in the Lower Spiral of Sanar, where he eked out an insincere apology to Journey. He informed the group of the plight of his village, as well as the fates of Valdos and Kairar, along with Valx's experience with the dark orb. He later approached Journey in the middle of the night for a personal conversation.

Determined to kill Zahast to fulfill the vision, Karcius decided to allow Journey some time to think as he set off to confront the dragon.

The Peas later found Karcius alongside his brother, Vacklash, and Giz, preparing to storm the Grimhold Keep. Karcius was instrumental in the fight against Zahast, cutting through the dragon's minions and dealing great damage to the Vilespawn, at great personal peril. Karcius eventually succumbed to the acid of the dragon, but was revived  Phaelnah. He decided not to thank her, through Valx did.

Karcius was incensed that he received no power or visions from Ferazir following Zahast's defeat. Concluding that he had helped slay the wrong dragon, he decided to pursue the head of Haradumeir next, returning to Madrioc for a brief rest before heading off again.
