KA18. Executing the Plan

The night before the plan was to be put into place, Elias Minch snuck out of their guest room to investigate the roof of the Inspired Manor where Shiaali lived.  He found a trapdoor that led down to the living quarters; he noted its location, and headed back to fill the rest in.

The party then patiently waited until the following evening, when they would put their plan into place.  As soon as the evening's ceremony had concluded, they headed back to their quarters.  Arc immediately turned invisible and headed towards the Inspired Manor through the window, and snuck her way up onto the roof and headed towards the trapdoor that Elias Minch had mentioned.  Making her way inside, she carefully explored until she found her way to Shiaali's bedroom, where Kalah was snoring loudly in the corner.  She made contact with Shiaali, and then used Dimension Door to transport them to the Industrious Forge.

Meanwhile, the rest of the party stayed in the guest quarters, making enough noise so that the guards understood that they were still there.  A few hours past, and then the sound of a disturbance was heard in the centre of the village.  Elias Minch spoke to the guards, to make it clear that they weren't part of the Torn Veil raid.  The guards then ran off to help with the conflict that was ensuing, leaving the party free to slip out of the building, helped by Selene d'Lyrandar casting Invisibility on all three of them.  They headed straight to the Industrious Forge, where they saw Setesh standing outside.  Selene d'Lyrandar approached and made conversation, but gave away too much; as Arc emerged from inside, Setesh changed, and it became clear that this was in fact Fali in disguise.

Their invisibility gave them an advantage in the ensuing fight; Elias Minch was able to get in a few quick blows, and Selene d'Lyrandar caused all of the moisture and vitality to drain from Fali with a Blight spell.  However Fali fell to a final blow from Smith and his Eldritch Cannon.  Arc saw that Shiaali was struggling; concerned that her Quori spirit was going to take over, he made her take one of the Dreamlily potions that Elias Minch had made several days earlier, sending her unconscious for a few hours.

They had no time to dwell though, because out of the smoke of the battle ensuing in the village centre, they could see Kalah striding towards them.  They entered the Industrious Forge, and Selene d'Lyrandar did her best to block the door by jamming some farming equipment into the door handle.  One-by-one they headed into the tunnels, with Arc bringing up the rear.  Kalah's face loomed over the tunnel entrance, and Arc through a fireball at him, before fleeing down into the tunnel network.

They carried on for hours, until around dawn they emerged back up onto the surface.  They kept going for the rest of the day, not stopping for fear of pursuit behind them.  They finally got to the point where they needed to decide what route they were going to take; across the guarded border, or through the dangerous Wild Zones.  They decided on the latter, and selected their route accordingly.  As dusk fell, and they debated stopping for a rest, they saw a figure behind them.  Kalah had followed them.  Shiaali begged the party not to kill her beloved bodyguard, who was only acting out of loyalty to her and a misplaced faith in the Inspired.  The party agreed, and decided to use their remaining resources to stop Kalah non-lethally.  Elias Minch would try and stun the bodyguard, and Arc would try and hypnotise him.  One of these would give Selene d'Lyrandar the opportunity to pour the remaining Dreamlily potion down Kalah's throat, rending him unconscious for long enough that they could make their escape.
