JF17. The Sunken Wreck

Completed

The Jade Foxes were hired by Eckbert Kanrei, a Professor at Morgrave University in Sharn, to find his missing colleague, Lucian WeaverLucian Weaver had left Sharn several weeks earlier; after much investigation, Eckbert Kanrei had been able to learn that Lucian Weaver had hired the Bastion's Herald and travelled east to Q'Barra.  Scrying attempts on Lucian Weaver had failed, but had located the wreck of the Bastion's Herald near to the coast of Q'Barra.

The Jade Foxes met Eckbert Kanrei and the crew of the Moonbeam at the Sharn docks.  Also there was their new recuit, Arranis.  They were warned by the first-mate not to question the reason for Captain Half-Tooth's name, but they found her to be quite genial and open to their jokes about body-parts.  They were at sea for approximately six weeks, and the Jade Foxes made themselves useful as part of the crew, speaking to Eckbert Kanrei and training.

On the night before they reached the wreck, they were awoken by the crew rushing to deal with a great storm.  The Jade Foxes helped out where they could, and in particular Canton Busby's surprisingly good voice served as a great moral booster.  Their actions during the storm allowed the Moonbeam to survive the storm, and gave them enough time to notice another ship on the horizon.  A pirate vessel approached and attempted to board the Moonbeam, but the Jade Foxes were able to hold them off.

Reaching the location of the wreckage, Kraxor Tyraneroth, Canton Busby and Rahl Morninglow headed down the wreck while Sarran and Arranis offered support from the deck of the Moonbeam.  Inside the wreck was a sea cat, which they disturbed and were forced to kill.  Searching through the wreckage, they found Letter from Doctor Lucian Weaver to his sister, Lyra.  From this, the Jade Foxes were able to glean that Eckbert Kanrei was lying to them, though they were unable to discern what his true purpose was.  They decided to lie in return; they faked a map that they claimed they had found, so that their destination of Cinderwatch was revealed without him realising what they knew.  The Jade Foxes headed for Cinderwatch, ready to continue their search for Lucian Weaver (JF18. Exploring Cinderwatch).
