Ivress was a rival of Kraxor Tyraneroth back to their early days training for the Path of Waves in Ka’rhashan. As they grew older, the rivalry grew more and more bitter, fueled by Ivress' jealously of both Kraxor's superior skills and their master Coldrak the Wise's favouritism towards Kraxor. Ivress and Kraxor went their separate ways before things could come to a head.
Upon Kraxor's visit to Cloister of Dawn's Touch, Ivress made an attempt on Kraxor's life, using a poisoned weapon in a sparring session. Kraxor was forced to dispatch Ivress. Ivress' actions that day all but proved he was also the one behind Coldrak's suspicious death, and thus justified Kraxor's actions in killing Ivress.
