Jo'Han Dough

Ambassador
Player (North)

Jo’han Dough became a mercenary at the age of 16. His father and mother are famous across Divelinson and made their name fighting the wars of others. As an “intro to murdering for pay” he specifically was under the tutelage of his mother doing simple bounty hunter missions. They developed a style of tracking and combat based mainly on going unnoticed in plain sight. Plain clothes and meek demeanor quickly transforming into a swirl of blades before the mark knew it. Along with this training he had tutoring sessions with his father, who was a man of many words. He was raised by giants in The Glass, a deep arctic tundra at the base of the world. For most of his own childhood he served as an ambassador for the giants, travelling on their behalf for supplies or to maintain alliances. He learned to fight from the behemoths and also inherited some of their enchanting techniques. It was a fairly lonely life and so when he went out into the world for himself he blathered on and on. Funnily enough this is what caught the attention of his wife Winda Dough. After 3 years of training a mysterious ailment overtook Jo’han as he suffered from migraines (latent psychic abilities from his mom’s side). His family made the choice to send him to the giants in hopes of using their ancient knowledge to assist. He stayed with them for 2 more years and now has things somewhat under control, but the giants have instructed him that as he gets stronger he may still see drastic changes. So now here he sits at 21, not quite an expert in either path but hoping to combine his past into something that fits him.

The Story

Jo'han was appointed to a group of individuals to act as their connection to the Guild of the Blade. Calani tasked him and a few others to look into a "Shadowy Figure" that was a nuisance to the King. They were to set out on a trial conducted by Calani and Trick to prove their collaboration and strengths. Before setting off the next day, Jo'han spotted his wife Winda Dough within the tavern. She informed him that his mother had gone missing. Jo'han stated that he wanted to go with her but she assured that she would have things handled. The group he was appointed to work with needed him more right now. She let him know that if anything were to come up she would inform them as soon as she could. He let her go off on her own and he returned to the group.

After succeeding in the trial with the others he and the others investigated the Dyonis Park. After following a trail of blood the group confronted a beggar. This beggar was able to lead them into an alley where it was deemed that the Shadowy Figure could have gone off too. After the beggar had taken off with a body they had found the group was ambushed. After the ambush Jo'han found a small Tabaxi child. Erato confronted the child and was able to calm him down and eventually bring him to a guard. Jo'han was able to find a secret passage where they found the body from earlier. They were able to learn that two of the beings were Crest of the Star students of the nearby academy.

The beggar had returned and gave them a warning to not meddle in things but they continued to go forth. This was after Jo'han had informed the guards that there were bodied in the alley. Once at the academy they spoke with the headmaster who then conducted a lockdown of the school. During the lockdown Calani had called Jo'han after he explored the halls of the building he was in. Once the lockdown was completed it was learned that there were no students missing from the academy. The lockdown was lifted and the group allowing them all to roam free. Jo'han, Erato, and Chef all went towards the Start District. Jo'han had tried to split off from the rest of the group but was confronted by Cecil

Cecil was already mad that they were missing out on valuable time for their mission and warned that if she caught them out of line she would take action. Jo'han returned to the theater where the others were with Cecil not far behind him keeping a close watch.

The following morning Jo'han and the others went to the mess hall. Here is where he started to maneuver through the crowds to try and listen in on the conversations. Here is where he saw a strange student who seemed to be clearly noticing him. He was a little unnerving but he continued to move through the students. One group of students was talking about a vessel from Frecia that was in the news. The vessel was carrying some time of explosives and exploded. The students expected that "The" Guild was involved. When asking about the strange guild, the students weren't able to provide much more than that.

After walking around the mess hall before regrouping something caught his eye, a familiar sight. He wasn't too sure at first but he came to realize that what caught his eye was a person. What was strange about this person was that this was the girl that was supposed to be dead back in Dyonis. Once he realized this he noticed that he wasn't the only one who has eyes on her. The strange boy who blended in just as well as him and smiled at him earlier was also watching her. She appeared to be normal though. No diamonds on her head, normal skin, smiling and laughing with her friends like any teenager. By the time you try to telekinetically reach your friends, they had left the mess hall to the library.

Jo'han watched as Cecil approached the girl and grabs her by the arm. He followed the two of them and it appeared that the boy follows as well. He blends into the crowd easily but you feel like he knows that you’re there behind him. Cecil and the girl approach two of the teachers sitting in the courtyard. One of the teachers stands up and whispers something into the other teacher’s ear. The teacher’s face changes to a blank expression as they appear to be emotionless. The two teachers get up and proceed to walk away from the bench.

The girl activates a spell as different male student appears. He realizes that this was the male student from the alley way. He moved a little closer stealthily remaining unnoticed by them and overhear their conversation.

Cecil left the two students and makes their way back to the front entrance. Before Jo'han could move any further he saw the strange boy from the mess hall again. He talks to a crow that lands on his shoulder and it flies away from him. As it does so, he makes eye contact with Jo'han and smiles while tipping an imaginary hat. He proceeds to take a seat at a nearby table as a crow caws behind him.

Jo'han was able to hear some kind of voice in his head. It was almost as if it was coming from the crow. He follows the crow for now. It takes him through the academy grounds past the theater into the Crest of the Star district. Now in the daylight, he was able to move around a little bit more easily and without Cecil to interfere. The crow takes him to a spot along the back of the district where the Stain glass wall containing the academy is located. He approached the wall and find a small impurity in the stain glass. Examining the impurity his hand phases through the wall and through to the other side. He pokes your head through the wall and find Umbra’s lute on the ground along with other footprints.

Jo'han heared something nearby and as he ducks for cover he realized that it’s a female half orc. They have the same diamond like markings on their forehead but their skin hasn’t grayed. They appear to be shaking and uneasy as he approached. She claims that Umbra had saved her from the chains before eventually succumbing to whatever was ailing her. Jo'han leaves the body to regroup with the rest of his friends passing by a strange individual with a wooden arm along the way. He makes brief eye contact with him as he tips his hat with a smile.

He come upon the scene of the two students he saw dead on the ground and his new friends standing together with three students, two females and a male.

Jo'han shared everything that he learned and he learned of everything that was going on. Things were starting to tie together as they all made their way to speak to the headmaster. Knowing that Cecil was behind everything they were confronted by Copper, the mystery student. Copper instructed them that they needed to figure out what side they were supposed to be on and to do that it was best to go talk to Kather in Varla. It was agreed that they would go forward to taking a train in the process.

The train was placed under attack and Jo'han suffered some injuries. He stayed strong as they reached Varla with new canine companions. They took a rest and the following morning, they decided to check out a crater that was near Kather's Mystics and Wares. The crater had black roses and dark green vines with a purple geode in the shape of a rose. After telling Erato it was best to wait before taking any samples, he decided to check things out at the shop. With the shop closed, he peered through the window. Here is where he saw a body fall to the ground and lay still. He tried to open the lock and succeeded picking the lock. However, upon opening the door his hand was burnt by a trap. Continue to make his way inside, he was met with clutter and junk of the shop but no body. Soon a battle ensued with a chest and cabinet due to an orange gel that was behind some shenanigans. During the battle Jo'han was able to clearly see Shiloh shift which seemed rather familiar to him.

After the furniture was destroyed, they were able to meet Kather and therefore get the answers they wanted. Kather questioned where their loyalty was and what their thoughts of the king of Divelinson was. Jo'han replied with the fact that he was a mercenary. Although he may not necessarily agree with the king if he was hired he was hired.

Kather was satisfied with the answers of the group and revealed that she was the captain of the Shooting Star Pirates. She also revealed the identity of the "Shadow Figure". This prompted Erato to suggest calling "Bazooka Cat". Jo'han was reluctant at first but agreed and told Trick details that were relevant while keeping other details confidential. Trick seemed nervous and instructed them to not inform Calani of any details. Trick also shared information in regards to Jo'han's mother still being missing and said it was best to call his wife.

In doing so, Jo'han was able to learn that Winda was still trying to track down their mother's whereabouts. He declined her offer to come and be with him and informed him that the last trace she had was on a Frecia vessel that was making it's way to Tyrillion before it exploded.

The following morning, Jo'han and the others were given jobs to choose from as a means of payment for a place to stay. The job he and Shiloh took on was to help JJ work on an elixir based on some notes they had obtained. When they entered the medical bay of the facility they were introduced to the loan JJ working on sixteen different ill individuals. They explained that they had no time to work on deciphering the notes from the book these people brought back with them. Shiloh and Jo'han got to work a deciphered four pages in total. With the pages deciphered, they were able to start working on combining different elixirs and using a black rose as one of the ingredients. They came to the conclusion that the soothsalts with the black rose was the best results for the individuals. It wasn't much of a break through but it was at least a start.

When the others returned with their treasures, Jo'han eyed up the starknife they had brought back much like how Kather was. After some much needed discussions a deal was made between Chef and Kather.

After the deal was made and Kather began checking her new toy out. It wasn't long before people started attacking Kather and her shop. Everyone came to her aid to fend of the assailants while a familiar face Trick and Dria Voxville came to the rescue as well. After the encounter, Dria was able to fill everyone in as to what was happening in the world. She discussed the political corruption and the monsters that were causing a problem. She and the Guild of the Lost would handle the political sides of things while they would start with the beast in Yeezla.

After agreeing on a set course, Kather gave them a glass bottle containing a ship. The ship was to be broken apart at the port upon their arrival. The following morning they set off via the bullet train to the port fortress. Jo'han had slight difficulty handling the train itself but managed to do the best that he could. In doing so, they were able to encounter Vix Silvertail at one of the stops. She informed the party of her mission to go after Comedina and asked if she can travel with them for the time being.

After their arrival, it was decided that men were needed to sail the boat. They made their way into the town to gather up the drunken men to sign on as part of their crew. However, the following morning they learned that they were biting off more than they can chew. With no crew to set sail they contemplated what course of action they needed to take. That's when they were able to connect with the ship and realized that it was some kind of sentient being. Thus the ship Delilah was dubbed and they were able to plan for their course.
