Ethri'il is a homebrew world of D&D.
In Ethri'il dieties walk among people and play an active role. This has lead to a very big issue with one god Aire the Elf God of the Winds has turned evil and has decided he wants to be the only god in the world.
Before he revealed this to the world he created a pocket dimension of sorts and put 2 of the existing 4 continents into that dimension for 10k years. Recently this dimension/barrier he put up fell and the two continents returned to their original places--except the rest of the world had moved on and forgotten these lands existed. In fact the world had been using the open seas where those lands once were as sea trade routes.
A shock was had when they returned and the world's mortal leaders sent people to figure out what was up. The first group that went mostly were killed but not before the truth of Aire's treachery was revealed. Champions of Gods was assembled and sent on to help reveal more things and save several gods.
Since then, Aire has teamed up with many of the world's more powerful monsters/baddies as a way to distract heros and armies as he hunts the world's gods and kills them one by one.
The Age of The Barrier (10,000 Years Ago)
Aire, a newer god in secret, betrays many gods--before those who knew his truth could do anything--he killed his “brother” Filnar the son of Analia. He then created a barrier removing the continents Parith and Udallin from the mortal plane sectioning them off as he tried to conquer them. At the same time he took the domain of Air from Jassin--beating and weakening the god by cheating. He made all believe he was a changed man save for a few.
The Barrier Falls (2 years ago)
Through the work of several talented gods and goddesses, and their mortal champions the barrier fell and Aire’s deception was revealed.
Rise of Champions and Great War of the Divine (Recent Times)
Champions all across the world were called to aid as the world fell under Aire’s attack. Aire had spent 10,000 years preparing for this war. Togs and Cogs rose among many other groups to fight back.
Sigrun’s and Celaryn’s group freed Delmare the forgotten Mistress of the Deep. But due to careless and rash decisions the Birdfolk gods were nearly entirely wiped out save 3 of them. Kher, Decaa, and Rhekirrik. Originally having been sent to discover the two returned “new lands” that had magically appeared within the world once again.
Then Cogs with Sig’s aid saved Raenisa creating the first rebirth and time goddess the world of Ethri’il had ever seen. Raenisa went on to free her mother of the same sickness that Aire had infected her with. Cogs via Ojen, and Togs via Azaria unknowingly awoke the Tabaxi gods and have been spreading their word slowly as to not alert Aire of their doing.
Cogs discovered Filnar still lived--connected through his spark to Raenisa. When she was reborn so was he.
Togs during this defeated--temporarily, Professor Nivras the Lich. Before moving to Emberwood.
