The Republic of Orlene is one of the richest entities of Thaelia and located on the east. Geographically, it is one of the smaller states of Thaelia, but its population is well educated and has a high productivity.

Economy

Orlene's economy is based on three fronts:

  • Minerals: The republic extracts gold and silver from the moutains that it uses to finance large projects and trade.
  • Trade: The republic trades goods with most states of the continent, as well as trades with states from other continents that it trades with through maritime routes.
  • Innovation: The republic's population is educated and productive, allowing it to finance research and innovation that can then be sold to foreign states.

Military

Thanks to its wealth, Orlene has a big standing army of 15'000 men it can command at any time. It can raise an extra 20'000 to 25'000 men. However, it can easily get, with some sufficient planning ahead, an extra 30'000 mercenaries from neighbouring and foreign lands.

Squadrons

The most organised segments of the army are split into various squadrons of 50 to 1000 men. These are already ready and in training when not on the battlefield. They are tasked with peace keeping missions, repairs, first aide during a natural disaster.

  • First Squadron
    • 55 strong, the elite force on the battlefield. Most politicians with a military background were part of the First Squadron at some point.
    • Lead by Kaldrac
  • Second Squadron
  • Third Squadron
    • 120 strong, the flanking force on the battlefield.
  • Fourth Squadron
    • 150 strong, the engineers.
  • Wyvern Squadron
    • 85 strong, the famed Wyvern riders of Orlene.
  • Pelor's Squadron
    • 40 strong, the healers and doctors of the army.
  • Spear Squadron
    • 50 strong, the logistics force. Politicians also come from this squadron.

History

Orlene was founded well before the Conquest of Thaelia, and used to control most the the central part of Thaelia, including present day the Republic of Rivandol and the Kingdom of Arden. It lost most of its holdings following the War of Six Families.
