Expedition 28 - Asher's Account

So back to this cursed tower we went. I was starting to see why all the elves vanished, if I had to live in that weird magic tower id make myself disappear too. But treasure is treasure, and dead people treasure with no silly "claims" or "rights" or "guards" is the best kind. The trip over was nice enough, we even stopped back at the keep to have a nice meal before going over, but the tower itself was another beast. In the first room we barged into we found some trap door under a carpet, and nothing but ripped up bedding and old tapestries. I shudder to think who lived here before, but they ain't here now. We moved on to that cold door, but lock picking is no easy task with clamy hands so we decided to just bash the thing down and charge in. On the other side were two specters straight out of a ghost story, but unlike in the ghost stories they thought twice about haunting us after we showed up our enchanted steel. Inside I found a fancy lookin elf box and inside an old cape and boots which turned me near invisible, and muffled my sound. The mischief I could get up to with these was already swarming in my head.

The dream didnt last though, as we climbed the tower we were ambushed by more ghosties, and worst of all three fools in magic armor wielding axes of the enchanted variety and charging us. I fumbled around for my rustin powder but before long we realized the two next to that lad were nothin more than illusions. Discretion is the better part of valor and all, but I'm not at all valorous so I charged in with my companions and stuck em with my knife until they died. In the room beyond we found some old corpses in some kind of magic circle burned up and old. I hate magic as much as the next thief, magic corpse circles especially, but if it made that armor the specter was wearing can it really be all that bad? Before we left we headed to a room full of books, the real treasure, and hauled them out collecting our prize form the wizards nearby.
