Expedition 23 - Ashers Account

Whelp, the folks I found myself proved more Knight then Knave, and off we were to some dank castle in the middle o' the dark woods. I'd heard all the tales of hauntings and killings but bandits dont know half of what to do with a gold shave, and ghosts cant even hold the damn things. Off I was then ahorse, bow in hand, to reclaim coin for the livin, and put an end to the dead (not that I got anything against em mind you.) Our journey there was pleasant enough, leavin from that old fort I found em at but the tower itself was haunted just by the look of it. And thats to make no mention of the tower sized sinkhole we crossed gettin there. Worse yet, the doors didnt even open until one of em placed a hand on em. Wizard towers I'm wary of, but this one seemed empty enough.

After following the vanguard inside, safely in the back, we came across a door cold as the grave. Short fell by the name of Alf said he could get it open, but before he wrenched the thing up we were ambushed by corpse eaters. The overtook and consumed our man in back in a flash but im made of sterner stuff, and got the scars to show it. After reeling away from the one that tried to gnaw me a new nose, I loosed arrows and the melee broke out. My shot was true enough, but it wasnt long until that dwarven fella keeled over, and the spear knight beside him. Only me and the bearded lad with the "ive seen too much" eyes lasted. And lasted we did. I show down one chargin him as he cut the two in front with his mighty axe. Soon the fight was one and I went to lootin, but you wouldnt believe it, that dwarf and spear lad were still breathing and ol' beard knight talked of draggin em out. As the corpse eaters seemed to be poorer than a sailor aship, I agreed and we waited until they awoke.

Not done yet, we went back in another direction for treasure, and oh was my treasure nose a singing. We came across a locked door, and bein that I had a passing familiarity with the devices, I volunteered to crack it open. And only after 5 minutes of work did the hinges sigh, and the door swung. Inside we found a chest o coins, and a glowin dagger of a similar style to the one I had been carrying since I met the knights of deadwood. Returned we did with treasure strapped to one of the mares. but not without a little test o' our wits. A many headed beastie ran behind us a good way in the forest, probably smellin the silver we dragged along. That Alf tho was quick on his wits, and cut open his ration pack spillin out the food and distracting the best long enough for us to get away. Unharmed, we returned to the stuffy baron I had heard so much about. and finally a good bed was under me.
